I was wondering how many CIU Members charge a call out fee to provide an estimate for Hard Floor Cleaning/ Restoration/ Sealing?
We charge on every single occasion and then offer a full refund if we get engaged for the work once we have supplied an estimate!
Today alone I have been asked to look at:
22M2 Porcelain in Leicester with grout Haze Problems. 2 1/2 Hour Return Journey
Two Fireplace Hearths made of Basalt in Dorset that are scratched and acid etched. 7 Hour Return Journey.
A travertine dining table in Leamington Spa 1hr 20mins Return
35M2 Alicante Rojo Marble Flooring London 5 Hours Return
I have also answered 5 E Mails regarding other jobs and dealt with about 4 telephone enquiries on various issues.

is your time charged out at managment rate or technican rate and do you charge milage.........its a interesting idea as i quote works in midlands often and that 7hours travelling,.....and usally 1 to 2 hours doing the quotation....i may use this idea .......thanks kevin

I charge a flat rate of £150 up to 100miles and £250 up to 200 miles both options include a test area. If they don't want to pay it then as far as I am concerned they are not serious. Especially as we offer them the fee back if they engage us.

interesting......i will think that may be a good idea on domestic work......we do take a deposit before we start.on new customers ohh and all shopfitters and small builders..tony johnston
