got a pumped 300gpd ro system under the sink. water quantity is fine but it only gets the tds down to 18ppm, any ideas on how to get it down more before it goes into the DI stage as it's eating resin. using the formula 500000/tds i'm getting less than an IBC full per resin fill.
Any ideas?

it may go lower as its run in.
and your DI must be far too small if you will only get 1000l, get a 11L DI minimum
-
it is run in, it's always been about that, even using a larger DI stage the ultimate usage will still be the same, just longer between fills. I need to some how reduce the tds out of the RO. Please don't suggest getting a 40/40 as i don't want to cut it in half to make it fit ;D.

somethings not right here mate, 18 is fine going into the di vessel mine is simmilar, and i use a small polishing unit afterwards full of resin into an ibc tank, i get between 1 and 2 months worth of pure water from a small vessel using 650 litres a day.
maybee you have a bad batch of resin or something, thats all i can think of

Rich,
that's what i was getting a couple of batches ago, but like i said in 1st post 500000/18 = 27777 ltr. a small polishing unit is approx .7ltr which gives approx 35 fills/bag. so 27777/35 = 793 litr/fill. or have i got something wrong here.

what is tds in?
also a booster pump will bring it down, before it goes to di.
when i had a 300gpd it was from 376 down to 8 put a booster on and it went down to 4/6
also some of the membrains being sold anit has good as the orignals, just cheap copies

got a booster pump. tds from tap 400 ish, 24 out of RO, down to 18 with pump which is 95.5% reduction which is within accepted tolerance
-
what psi is the pump running at?

You lucky b**tard. i get 300tds into and 39tds out of my RO unit. Then through a 10" DI (small) unit. That gets me to about 1000L before I have to change at 4 or 5 TDS.

David get 2 di units, will last you more than twice as long if your ro out is that high

Franky,
pressure in is about 75psi, i say about cos i took gauge off as it rattled too much.
Ian,
waste to pure is about 2:1
