I watched a program last night about Portland Street in London.... I would love to have a round that has terrace houses costing from 2.1 to 3.5 million pounds. There is like 6 large sash windows on each one. Whats the bets you could probably charge as much as 20  to 30 quid just for the front. Parking might be difficult so a trolley system may be handy here.

I bet each front would take no more than 15 minutes ( £120 per hour) = 6 hour day = £720 earned. If you stayed over night thats £1440 for 12 hours work.

1440 minus 60.00 fuel minus 100 board and food minus 4 hours return rate at a normal rate 100 = 1180. 12 hours work , 4 hours travel = total time on job 14 hours, divide that by 1180 still equals a great rate of £84.28.

Then do that  once per week, then do it with one of your lads then take two crews down...... lovely jubbaly.

Lee i do all by eaton square/ pimlico/ all sw1-3 postodes. And yes all terraced houses. Around eaton square they are more 10 million though to buy. Im out this weekend cleaning up there. Also you thinking you can charge £20-30 for fronts is sooooo wrong. I charge £50 for fronts and £100 for whole house. Get a lot of recomendations but also a lot of messer types. It took me ages to get foot in the door up there but it was verey worth it. I have 42 so far every 8 weeks but also have a lot of as and when but the good thing is i can tie them in with the regulars. 1 offs i charge double at £200. I have a 1 off with insides to do on sunday i only added an extra £50 for insides though Its a double fronted 4 storie house though so a biggie but for £250 i wont turn my nose up. Just need another 100 odd customers up there to not have to work week days lol. I wish.

Lee i take it by your post you are up north somewhere or out the area where people are relaxed and just want a friendly decent window cleaner turning up when he says to do a good job for a fair price.

there is a reason why its more expensive here for window cleaning thats because the customers particularly the ones you are on about turn window cleaning into the hardest job in the world when its ment to be simple, mick is making it sound easy but belive me a round of 40 customers in that area "established" is bloody hard work he would have prolly established 300 in a different area in the same amount of time tell me if im wrong mick!

i know because i have done this and lost plenty because they are just too demanding i have tryed almost everything even lowered the price they still want you to turn up at 2.35pm even thou you are cleaning next door at 10am even if you drop the price they dont care, you up it to a one off price some take it others dont hard to win very hard work to establish mate very hard

another thing is these people are rich for a reason and some of them will be renting i have areas like this people do pay 5-6k rent a month to have a posh post code and be left with enof money to pay a friendly window cleaner for a one off before they move.

so whats the answer ? ill tell you the secret is in the first clean you have to go in hard on the first clean as it will be the smoothest clean you will ever see

i recomend 200% but also pay for 3x clean works well too so try giving them the option because they will have 2 chances to see you turn up as you do and they have already paid for it

the slightest sign of fear as in "no probs mate ill do your front for £30 see what you think" they will tear you to pieces on the 2nd clean

i actually enjoy canvassing these sort of people its a game between us and them they know what we want and they know they are going to pay more and they dont care about paying more but if you loose faith in yourself and do them a favour on the first clean being mr nice guy they will punish you but if you charge more then they will respect you and look forward to having it done for the reduced rate.

:)

offer them your service but charge 300% which covers them for 3 cleans then you are in total controll and controll is the key gives you 2 chances to show them what you are about, harder to sell thou so not many will bite.

I know these people from being a london black cab driver for over ten years and you are right, they are a different breed. Some of them really do get out of the shower to have a pee!
