Sitting in van today on phone to a customer whilst my colleauge worked on a house and a ford focus stacked with ladders with 3 lads drove past van and one of em shouted aggresively "This is our patch !!!!!! " was on phone so unable to answer >:(
They pulled around corner onto a scummy estate and started to clean some houses so gets out to take a look at em and have a chat if required but no one came over to me.
If thats their patch their welcome to it ;D ;D
fecking idiots !!

Im surprised there isnt more of this going on. Its a shame we dont get our own patch as a total compact round would be the ultimate. Imagine 4-500 customers over 4 roads. Would be heaven. Instead we have 11 or 12 window cleaners working the same roads doing the odd 1 or 2 on each road.

technically speaking ... it has now been proved that Neanderthol man was more intelligent than homo sapiens. Also Ghengis Khan as a Mong may have been quite intelligent too.

So, no one per se, owns 'a patch'?
I'm apparently one 'the patch' of about three maybe four window cleaner's patch! Had a couPle of householders still take my details when I mentioned I work with poles and pure water. I'm offering free bottles of deionised to every customer. I'll let you all know how that goes.
I hate this patch malarkey, you wouldn't see the manger of your local Trsco shouting from his car at the manager of the co-op.

would have stood my ground as most likely it would just be verbal abuse but if took a swing then prob got stuck in and prob got a kickingfor my trouble :-\

haha @ the kicking, not in a bad way mate, you could of called gav, not that he would of done anything its just that the lads would stand there trying to understand what he was saying haha

I used to be bullied at junior school until I thumped the lad so since then always stand up for myself but did come unstuck bigtime with this principal against a lad called Carl Ellis in West Derby Comp ::) ::) think he now runs a load of doors in Liverpool

thats just wherever mike works, he gets them all. ive only had the one mate and so far all mouth, i swore when i started this id never scrap by customers houses but if it came down to it id run away quicker than the road runner haha

i know what everyones gona say but we need to think with our heads here, these 3 blokes may have really nothing to loose where as you ian have a decent developing business with a staff.
this has never happend to me before i know up north people go crazy over a £2.50 front switching to you,to some people its worth going to prison over not to me.
my take on this crap is keep away from them so i aint saying hide away and dont go there you cant help it if they get in your face but its just not worth risking a fight
just stay in the van and laugh your head off thats what i would have done most are full of mouth anyway but still not worth getting into a fight and arested
i mean how many windows can you clean in prison? 0.00
how many can they? they might not care they could have been in and out or just full of mouth who knows end of the day they are idiots and we gota carry on.

Maybe not, but when i was driving one of them vans with the A frame advertising hoarding on advertising the Range (a new store) i did get moved on by the manager of the B&Q and the manager of Homebase as in their words...i was bad for business. ;D

There's a good chance they may be joking, they usually stad on your hose reel here so you have to look up and see they're not !!! ;D ;D .

We don't seem to have this problem in Devon or at least not in the 20 + years I've been going.
Most Window Cleaners here know each other, share work and help each other out.
Could be we'd like to take issue but just can't be bothered....

We have a buy and sell board on here anyone ever heard of or tried a job swap board?
I agree with Mick it is pretty stupid half a dozen cleaners on the same street all doing 1 or 2 houses.
I suppose the bigest problem is trust not many would want to give away what they are doing, where and for how much.
