i have all ways had a slap dash approach to conny roofs,in the sense of making do with the equipment i have at hand
but having done two today have decided to try and and approach it in a more professional manner.
so what equipment do most people carry for this kind of work also the cleaning agents
many thanks
bob

Personally I use a hose lock 1.5 L hand pump sprayer from b&q
Viro sol and a pole and sill brush,
Few spare fittings so I can use custys tap if possible
And a set of a-frame ladder so it's safe to work.
That's about it I think mate

I've got a back pack with a lance bob but I find
This one Easyer to use! If you get the pressure up on it
You can spray approx 10ft on a calm day. I haven't found
Anything I can't cover with this mate.

Just make sure you flush your pole hose through with enough pure before you start to clean the windows, as it will be contaminated with a high tds from the tap water.
-
Ah. So itself the general rule that cos your using a detergent you don't need to use your pure? When quoting I'll take into consideration whether they have an outside tap.
Some great tips people, cheers.
I already carry a spray bottle with water and Fairy just for that odd occasion when you don't want to carry a bucket of water.
-
They might have a tap, but it might not be switched on
-
Ah. So itself the general rule that cos your using a detergent you don't need to use your pure?
No its because you need to use a massive flow rate of water to wash down the roof and your pure water is not going to be anywhere near enough. So you have to use a tap. I have done cons roofs with pure but its a PIA.
You let the water do the work for you

most of the roofs we do we use pure water, I can't see why it is a pita at all ?

Conservatory roof access ladder.
Fenwick Caravan cleaner from halfords - or Virasol - through 5L pressure sprayer
UPVC polish restorer - or CIF is just as good
Tap water through hose to trigger spray attachment if opaque panels
Pure water for final rinse via WFP if clear glass panels
Wagtail whirlwind on extension pole.

Hot system. Gardiner's SL-X. Super Lite Mono Dual Trim inc. swivel. Ladder & Ladder Matrix. Plenty of water and high flow rate. Hot system cuts through the grime extremely well and saves time. Less scrubs, no pre-treatment with chemicals. Works very well for me.
On conservatory roofs where there are overhangs where the brush can't reach I usually blast it out first with a standard 1/2" hose reel attached to outside tap. It's got a 6 setting spray gun on it to get a nice direct jet.

Time is money, Get the water bouncing off the roof and it washes all the bits before it as it runs off like a river. My Dad always used to say "If you want to find the easiest way to do a job give it to the laziest bloke"
-
Extension pole with "18" sqeegee for them roofs built by muppet builder with no slope to allow water to run off.

Hi Colin, might sound a stupid question but what connections etc do you need with that sprayer?
-
i do fine just with my pole and plenty of water. never had any need for all the extras being posted here and never had a complaint either. also we seem to charge more than most for doing them so must be doing something right?
save your money bob and buy your wife some flowers instead :)
