Got this idea off Mick Campbell last week and used it twice yesterday.
When a potential customer asks "how much to do mine" and I think its going to be a one off Ive started saying
"Our standard price for this type of house is £24, then if you become a regular monthly customer it drops to £12 a month"
First house turned out to be an EOT and she didnt want to loose deposit and second house now a regular monthly customer.
Dont normally charge extra for 1st clean but handy phrase to use I found.

I like that Ian! ;D

That's a much better way than saying about "charging extra" for the first clean. Also, it may assist in ensuring they stay regularrather than a three clean wonder.
I suppose it's a bit like the difference between "late payment penalty" and "prompt payment discount".

yup worked well yesterday however on Monday the old dear who asked for a one off nearly had a seizure when I quoted £20 for a minging 3 bed semi with 7 windows and 2 doors.
"oooooo the last bloke did it for a fiver"
bye !!!!! ;D

Indeed, but presumably that's not the sort of job you want anyway.

My standard reply to that approach is "I'm sure if you call him he'll still do it for that price..."

Use it on any job you don't really want; just stick a high price in. Why not?

My reply to that is " where is he is now" ? they usually say " don't know, not seen him for ages"... to which I reply " I do , poor bloke must have starved to death"

i dont bother aurguing these days because they rarly change there minds and all the time im atempting to change there minds im loosing time i could be with a decent partential!
i think the only windies who aurgue the point is when they themselves are not sure of what there doing and saying. i could be wrong on this point of course! :P

Is this your experience Tosh or a guess? I ask as this method really works for us, so much so that when i start getting knocked back from it then i'll consider changing and just going straight in at a cheap price. I'm guessing from your reply you don't think its a good method?

Priced a job last month. Standard house with a conny, could be arsed to do it for less than £40 every 3 months as this was the frequency they wanted. He tried to haggle on price to which I replied, if you want the standard of clean to drop because I begrudge coming out to the job then fine, you can have it cheaper. If not, it's £40 per clean. Quote accepted. ;)
