Title: getting sick of slow payers via bank transfer
Post by: magic moments on June 21, 2012, 08:34:42 pm
I know its part of this game ,slow payers etc but I have 2 houses next door to each other ,I have called to say I'm coming and when I clean there home and say they have no cash can I pay via bank so I say sure ,now for the last 2 months they have taken like a week to pay,and this time its 8 days and no payment I reminded after day 7 and got il do tonight had sons birthday party etc, still no payment, just feels a lack of respect as they are in and aware when I'm cleaning,oh and these are both under priced as it is ,they certainly don't need the money

Its a pia I know but it depends if you need or want them on your books.
I dont let mine get more than 2 cleans before I stop and the money normally comes.
Its just part of the job unless your full and can do without them

as your business grows this problem will slowly disapear. you need 400 £10 customers a month. you will find a third pay on the day, a third pay online or by sending cheque and the other third you will have to chase and collect. the more custies you get the better flow of cash you will have. just remember to get rid of consistant messers as wont do you or your business any good.

Mate you seem to have a lot of problems, what you should be doing with every customer is stating your terms like

I clean every 4 weeks
I dont except door cancelations end off if they do it after being told just get rid they are no worth it
Tell them very clearly that you clean in all weathers, no exuse for them to stop you if they do get rid
and also as your just starting do away with bank trans if in cash or cheque if out leave them a envelope with address labble on, I dont put a stamp on as i say its either that or the price will go up due to fuel costs

If these are under priced get rid or put the price up, they are not worth it, its not a charity. also why are you under pricing mate. And dont blame the weather for not canvassing the rain wont burn you lol

i come from a sales/canvassing background. always been taught that every no is a step closer to a yes in anything you canvass for. By far window cleaning is the easiest sale there is. it used to feel like a ture but I actualy enjoy canvassing now as the sooner i get this next round up the sooner im off the tools...just be confident magic. go out an hour a night 6.30-7.30 which is the peak hour when most people are home and before eastenders and coronation street start. you wont go far wrong.
Where in kent are you?

I had  problems sure,I went in feet first so expected it,I'm open and honest on here so I can recieve good advice like I have,I'm not underpricing ,infact I have built up quite slowly with goof priced work, these in particular were my first weeks canvassing and have since learnt there a little cheap compared to other houses only by 2 pound but still,I prefer the bank payments as I have collected once in 2 months, just wanted to vent frustration at people not paying on the day when they prob have the cash etc

Trust me get them to send a cheque just provide the envelope with address on that way you can just wait for payment, instead of having to keep looking at your bank to see who has paid, i just write the adrress of custy on inside tab of envelope. so easy i just look see the address on it and tick it of george debt list. trust me simpler is better in this game

that explains it then why you are finding it tough. i bought some work few years ago may road and roads off of it in rochester, cant remember any other rds apart from may, well was the worst customers i have ever bought, every excuse under the sun to not pay me. The problem with doing medway is there are a lot of big companies that heavy canvas those areas. ian lancaster, shine time, ezy clean to name a few so is tough(found out from experiance) all the decent customers are taken it seems as i wanted to hit medway too but from decided against it from rubbish responce.
why not pitch out further like chalk, gravesend, cobham bean etc to name a few.
Im sure if you put your all into it you will be fine..work that magic moment. ;D

online is way simplar and less time consuming, with a cheque you have to handle it, then take it to the bank then wait for it to clear, online it clear instantly.

I am trying as hard as I can to cut cheques down, I get hundreds of the things, they are a time zapper, make things simple go online  ;D

I've dumped some recently that just pay too late.

I don't mind if they pay 3 weekly for a 4 week clean, or on the sixth week they pay for both.

Or if they're 8 weekly I want paying before I do the second clean.

If they miss these deadlines regularly they're history.

Sorted!

My debt list can be anywhere from £500 to £1300!

I agrre with this....yess some custies take a bit longer with bacs....but I only bank my checks every 2 weeks......so I can wait a week for the cheque to arrive and then It may be siiting in a cupboard for a further 2 weeks before I pay it in..... and then its a further 4/5 days to clear......... at least with bacs it goes strait in and is cleared!
