Title: Stone wall sealing

The gable end wall has had a sealant sprayed on the external face before but it was a BQ type £20.00 for 5 litres stuff. Just wondered if I can use a stone floor sealant on the wall with a lifespan of at least a couple of years that is suitable for external use?

What are you trying to do?

Are you trying to seal the sandstone with an impregnating sealer? Or are you trying to seal and bond the sandstone with a sealer and pore filler?

Getting some damp patches in the odd place inside the house which I put down to the old sealant having been broken down/gone. All i want is to seal the external surface whilst allowing some vapour transfer from the inside out. The pointing looks good so I am guessing that the big tree in front of the gable end and the fact this wall is to the west of the house means that its allowing damp right through both layers and the rubble between before the wind or sunlight can dry the surface properly

According to their website 1 Litre does 0.5-4M2 per coat and it has to be applied by an approved applicator to meet their guarantees.

Anyone can buy and apply the product but it has to be an approved applicator for the warranty.

For sandstone it is closer to the 3-5m2 application rate.

An applicator in the Highlands has just performed exactly what is described to someones holiday property on the coastline with great success.
