What sort of access is required - laddering, ledging, cherry picker or hanging out/harness? Is it outside only or inside too?

it is all ladder work its just some of the windows are balconies for flats so a leg over a balcony is required

9 metres up off a ladder? That's illegal isn't it?

Methinks said offer of work in Coventry needs to be "sent to Coventry"!

Yup. Over 4m needs some method of securing the ladder at the base.

Upto 9m is legal though with that condition.

Climbing from a ladder at 9m over a balcony is certainly not. And climbing back onto the ladder with no fall arrest stuff certainly is definately a big NOT.

In terms of risk, balconies are not meant to be climbed over. They are meant to stop people falling.

Having said that, leg over balconies - we've all done that.  ::) .. but in terms of the law....

Cheers

Dunno.

I have a gizmo from B & Q that I point and it give the distance. Cost £30 quid but the problem is that a genuine mistake can happen as to the height.

The law has become somewhat tricky of late. My rule is now that unless we do it ourselves then forget it.

It limits our earnings but there again ....

Best be safe than sorry.
