Title: Customers just don't understand
Post by: colin purewater on June 16, 2012, 03:27:33 pm
Good afternoon,

Had a slack day yesterday as I'm well a head will me work,
So I took my boy out with me in the van to do some
Running round ( he's 2 yrs old) loves coming out with daddy :)

I went to pick some Money up of a customer ( which I don't normally do)
And she got gabbing to me and the boy.

She started saying to him " when your older will you go out cleaning windows
With your dad?" but quick as a flash she said
" mind you your dad might have a proper job by then" :D

I just chuckled to me self and then she handed me £30 for the 45 mins work
For cleaning her windows ::) I said thank you and drove away having a good giggle

I think that she must think I only clean her st. And that's about it
Think if she used her head and added up the houses I do in her close then
And watched hour long I was there for she would go sick :o

Funny lot people arnt they.. Lol

Was cleaning a new customer a couple of years ago. Got chatting, and i asked how she got my number.

"i see your van outside the private school, do you clean it a lot as i always see you there?"

I replied "no, my son goes to the school, i pick him up after work!"

She phoned me a week later to cancel. I asked why for my records.

"you obviously charge to much to afford that school!!!"

Aint custies great  ;D

i still get "you getting some beer money in!" even though ive not touched a drop for years!!

some posher customers speak to me in a condescending manner tinged with a bit of mocked pity that i have to resort to a lowly job as window cleaning or "bummers" job!!

they feel sorry for you working in the rain trying to scratch a living together!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

it doesnt bother me and just slides off my back!!

one thing i dont do is compare myself with other people.just keep ploughing your own furrough and enjoy your little successes along the way!! :D :D :D

there is a lot to be said for being out in the fresh air, active job, great flexibilty and low stress not to mention the half decent earnings once you ve got a solid customer base.

hold your head up high lads and be proud that you had the bottle to start your own business and get out of the rat race!! :D :D :D :D :D

Nice one Daz. This is the best job i've had I swear. Wish i'd started years ago instead of doing the old job - 1 hour commute each way + 50 hrs a week at the office and cr*ppy business travel where you go away over a weekend and still have to work a full week when you get back. It was good money, but compared with this, well, they can keep it.

Window cleaning - probably the best job in the work, next to greasing up Rhianna so she can slip into those tight outfits she wears!

At least you're working for yourself, that shows you've got more about you than the average paper pusher which tend to be the type who look down on us the most! Window cleaning might be a 'low status' job in some peoples eyes but that's their problem.  As someone who pushed paper round for literally years in a so called 'managerial/professional' job I know which job I prefer  ;D The only thing we had to look forward to was the annual pay review and being made redundant!
