hi,when cleaning rugs what do you use to whiten cotton fringes.Find alot of people unwilling to pay the extra these days for it,to be honest that suits me.Years ago we use to use a solution of bold washing powder,really whitens but you should only do it once .Now use prochem oxibrite and fibrebuff,so so results.thanks

Fibre buff, oxibrite, fabric shapoo is a good mixture but will reqire more than one treatment in most cases. Or up the concetration by 50% but the rug needs to be hung so that the solution will not drip into the rug.

white vinegar 1 to 3 spray on dwell and dry vac off.

I use oxibrite and fiberbuff all the time just get so so results.I always use a acidic to clean the fringes first.When dry then apply oxibrite,just interested was there a better product out there.

Cleaning them properly is usually enough to do the job ;)
Question: Why would you want to whiten something that isn't white to start with?

Not a subject that can be explained in a brief post.
Most rug fringes are very light in colour and the degree of soiling will be darker in areas where there is heavy traffic. Whilst you can improve the appearance just with cleaning, to get uniformity bleaching is very often required.

I get the old grannies with their poxy round fringed chinese rugs that cost them £40 new. I go round once with the handtool and spray with white vinegar. I tell them bright white is unnatural, like American's teeth. They seem to be happy with that. ;D
