we have now got a 4040 from gaps water , perfect no probs its producing a good amount of water at 4 ppm putting through di to 000ppm.
The GREAT IAN LANCASTER has said in a previous topic that he uses water at 4ppm with no problem no spots.
my question is this, does putting pure water through a di vessel
( EVEN IF IT ONLY REMOVES THE LAST FEW PPM ) change the nature of the water , does it make it a more efficent cleaning solution so if a ro were able to produce water at 000ppm would that water have the same properties as water at 000ppm that has been produced through a di vessel

My 4040 produces 006 and I change my 7 ltr DI about r times a year IMHO may as well use 000 for what it costs

yes i agree but i just wondered if the di made any differece to the water other than removing the last impurities ... ie rearranging the ions ( whatever they are ) or slightly altering the ph of the water

The last info I read said that it's the di that makes the water slightly acidic and improves cleaning power. I'll stand corrected if anyone knows different :)
I always di from the tank ... I have noticed that any water stood in the tank doesn't seem as affective even though tds hasn't risen but could be just me or baked on bird crap.

yes what i noticed this week when i tried a tank of 4ppm ... was that slug trails took alot more cleaning away than they did with 000ppm water which had gone through the di to reduce it from 4ppm to zero, although there were not any spots on the glass some stains ie slug trails and insect poo seemed to take more scrubbing away

at 004 bag of resin should last about 4 years works out £1.45 a month :D

Think this is the theory behind the o part per billion by ionics it has greater cleaning power the purer the water is

It's a very good question and one that I've wondered.
Ro water however clean is more or less just filtered water.
Di water at 0 tds is altered from it's natural state.
Is it important? Don't know!

With DI water the polarity has been changed therefore it will attract and hold more dirt.

This is an interesting thread, it would be nice to see some sort of scientific evidence.
