Hi all
who do you recommend for window cleaning van insurance?
Thanks
-
I'm with A-plan,
Trouble is you never know how good until you need them! Thankfully ( grab wood) I haven't done so far.
I pay £ 500 each van, Toyota Hiace
Rob.

Adrian Flux as they are specialist insurers and a water tank in the back of my Ford Ranger didn't scare them at all: £440

Hi,
Thanks for all replies I insured my van today through CVD and after a bit of haggling got it down to £385 with the tank, plus roadside cover, legal cover and personal accident cover all included not a bad deal me thinks, saving just over £100 as was insured through autonet, Adrian Flux second best came in at £400 but wanted extras for personal accident.
This is on a Ford Transit 2001 SWB with 650ltr system
Hope this helps anyone renewing soon.

and they can defo added that you have a secured tank in the back ? that sounds very very cheap when all insurance has gone up by about 40% I would defo check the wording on the policy mate mine is over double that, but have two drivers on there. I switch between cdv and A plan and never had a low quote like this and I do check about autonet stopped being in the picture about 4 years ago as they prices went through the roof due to the amount cutting out and restricting the terms like nothing over 600L tank on some of their panel of insurers
-
i cant believe how cheap you guys have it! im being charged 1400 for a bloody ciroen nemo. i had a look at a flat in another area (near moss side in manchester) and they wanted 3 grand to insure it!!! its be cheaper to have a crash every year than pay that!

I checked this out with Adrian Flux - told them about the tank and they really weren't bothered at all - though I am running a pick up which is a different set of insurance issues than a van.

I updated my pick up from a '93 to an '02 and it's doubled my premium. A lot of it is down to location - this is about the second cheapest area for insurance in the UK and I'm 43.

I did declare fitted tank but will double check policy when it arrives and report in

wasnt bothered about a tank does not sound right to me, seeing as they are not many people that will insure a fitted tank system, they near on everytime have to refer it to the underwritters for them to ok it before saying yes, you cannot get a quote on a comparision site due to this like technicality.
My location is ok still the premiums all over have gone up thats thier words not my own.

I think it's down to it being a pick up and not a van and the drastically improved occupant safety and lack of potential payout as a result.
Was with Gladiator before and some of their insurers raised objections to my old truck and tank.
When I switched trucks the existing company would cover me but wanted £450 on top of my existing premium and the only sensible quote I could get on the day was uncertain as to whether or not they would cover the tank. Changed to Adrian Flux, spoke to them over the phone directly and not on the 'net, explained the situation exactly and they came back with the price including the tank. Might be because they specialise in insuring unusual vehicles - had my 2.8i Capri insured with them on a classic policy in the past for under £200. £440 was still a shock though as I was paying £160 on my old truck and only three years ago £95 per year!

I could only dream of a premium that low lol

My renewel is due on the 17 June, if I stay with Aviv they want £1179, CDV started off at £2000 then dropped to £800 but my no claims are not protected, Adrain Flux are £630 with protected no claims
guess who I will be with on the 17 June ;)
Also check your policy, Adrian Flux added Personel Accident and Breakdown cover at £100 onto the policy, I already have these, so why pay double, spotting this has saved me £100 ;D

I did declare fitted tank but will double check policy when it arrives and report in
Just a thought but what are you going to do if your van is in an accident and off the road for 2-3 wks , I have a courtesy vehicle which will be fitted with a 650 ltr purefreedom system in the back in the event my truck is involved in an accident and off the road for a while . Mike

Hi Mike,
I have a trolley system and 25ltr drums and my dad has an L200 pickup as a backup so can chuck them in the back and carry on as normal, can see your valid point for anyone that hasn't got alternatives.
Thanks
Andy

I asked a previous insurer about alternatives in the event of being vehicle-less and was told that they would provide me with like-for-like.
After they stated to me in no uncertain terms that my tank must be bolted to the floor for safety and insurance reasons I asked them if the replacement truck would arrive with a tank fitted.
Apparently no - I would have to fit my own which sounded fair enough.
I pointed out that they would presumably have no objection to me drilling holes in their shiny truck and bolting my tank to the floor?
They said no I couldn't......Am I Missing Something Here?

This is one reason why I like this forum.
Did a search for van insurance, found this post, called Adrian Flux and saved £200 on like for like insurance. It's good to share!

did you get a quote from A plan aswell, this year third year running no other company can beat them (or that I could find)
now just need to find one that insures a couple of vans and a car in one policy without costing the earth
-
I did call Aplan and am waiting for them to call back with a quote.

I use carterton branch only, Nikki I think is the girls name, they are really quick too so if the others drag thier heels call that branch, mention my name when you call I think we both get a discount which would = a result. ;)
