Title: Reciprocal links on websites
Post by: Dave Turley on June 10, 2012, 01:57:59 pm
Hi everyone

My webmaster has suggested that it would be useful for me to see if any of you guys are interested in posting reciprocal links on each of our websites.

Your link would show up in the new recommended businesses part of my site.

Once you have added my link to your site, he will add yours to mine.

My website is: www.daveswindowcleaning.co.uk

The details for my link to add to your website are:

TITLE = WIndow Cleaning in Wolverhampton
WEBSITE = http://www.daveswindowcleaning.co.uk
DESCRIPTION = "Whatever you want, keep it small"

If you have any techy questions please email him directly at:
me@benjames.info

My email is daveswindowcleaning@hotmail.com

Thanks

Dave

Old hat and not worth it. Your bloke is out of date with his info. You need one way links coming in from good ranking sites.

I've passed on your comments and apparrently:

it's important to have good link diversity

As well as getting links from high pr sites it's good to have a mixed back link portfolio

google backlinks

Thats what Steve us alluding too.

Best way to get these is to comment on blogs that blog about cleaning related subjects. Dont just comment "good post" make it a good comment that people will want to read.

Also you need to post on website that have do follow links otherwise you will waste your time.

You could start your own blog, and ad links back to your site.

check www.majesticseo.com

shows you how many pages are linking back to your site. Google will rank you higher the more you have.

Consider it as Google's algorithm for word of mouth. They are linking to it so it must be good.

It holds very little weight and you should be concentrating on quality inbound links as one of these links could hold the weight of thousands reciprocated links.

I think your webmaster is using very dated techniques that do not work very well at all (although sounds good to someone that knows very little (not aimed at you, they are diluted, and can also get you sandboxed on google for adding to many, also if you link to any tom dick and harry and they are doing things wrong this will also affect your site, if they is new and you add to many links you will get penalised.

I said about this about a year or more ago,

Thanks for the comments, obviously my website guy can't post on here so I've copy and pasted his response to your comments here:

Haha they are tearing you apart there lol,

I think that they are right in saying high pr blog comments are the way forward, but the diversity is that if you get links from sites like jays window cleaning which is a relevant site about window cleaning it will push you up on the ranks, the method you suggested is a bit old hat but it's still something you can do.

You have built up a steady back link portfolio I don't think they understand that. I think that they think yoh are starting afresh, I didn't really recommend having a links page really but I don't think you will be penalised for it by google and you will benefit from having that jays window cleaning link :)

If you wish you can delete that forum post and we can just continue with my campaign.

I will be doing manual link building later on in the coming months for certain key phrases! :)

-Ben

So, thanks again, I am really not concerned about this guys capabilities and it was my idea to do some link swaps.

If anyone is interested please get in touch.

Regards, Dave

Dave I would not waste your time swopping links with other low pr sites all it will do is take up your time, on the same footing a high pr ranking site is unlikely going to want to ad your link to there and give away link juice with no benifit to them.

High Pr blogs are good if they are do follow links, which some do not offer, I know on one of mine I get spam after spam comments that I filter, I add the comment and remove the link as it helps give me content and has no benifit to the person trying to waste my time, if it is a good post I would allow a link back.

For those reading this going and spamming high pr blogs is also old hat.

Make your site worthwhile and you will do well on google, pay to have your links in the right places will get you results.

Out of interest how much is ben charging you per month for SEO ?
