Title: Marketing ideas
Post by: Lee Burbidge on June 07, 2012, 09:41:52 am
Next time your getting t-shirts printed, why don't you try it with a smart phone bar code. When your cleaning windows, people interested in future window cleaning of their residential property but don't have the time to speak with you or get a card might just scan your t-shirt.

They get your website up on their phone then bookmark it for later.

They can be from the other end of the street and do this, sometimes you might not even know it has happened.

Then to establish if its working for you - when ever you get a call ask them how they got your details. Keep a record and compare this against your ROI with your leafleting or other sales campaign.

Cool hey.

My other thing:

I will let you know how I get on with 10,000 door hangers for residential window cleaning :)

Yes Q code ( sorry). Sometimes trying to remember something or scrabble for a pen in your car when you finally find a window cleaner working ( as we all know, everyone says that they have never seen a window cleaner in their area lol) But we always carry a phone - with Q code its done and dusted.
Making things stupidly easy for potential customers will increase a bottom line for sure.

step too far for me.i have a sign written van and embroidered workwear and i always carry business cards when working and collecting(in a handy little case as well!) so if they want a decent reliable window cleaner its very easy for them to phone or ask me.

also face to face communication is very important or a chat on a phone IMO.

i dont think im the only one who gets increasingly annoyed with technology at times.dont get me wrong i have round software etc, etc.have customers pay online but scanning t shirts.i dont think so!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

some of my best jobs are wealthy retired folk in large houses, cant see them scanning their mobiles on my t shirt!its easier for me to give em a business card!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

In the beginning there was just face to face and word of mouth, then telephone and printing business cards then printed signs, vans and garments and leaflets ( not necessarily all in the same order lol) . And now twitter, Q codes, Facebook etc etc.

Take from it what you need. Me? I use it all :)

q codes are very slow to take off, although I think in 5 years it will be the norm with advertising/marketing your digital presence.

There main problem is: people do not know what they are they are sometimes very hard to scan, people dont know how to get the app for it.
as time goes on this will I am sure be learnt but they are very slow to be taken up, I remember a year or so back, I was at an event in Model business congress 2012 with richard branson Alan sugar etc, they had these there and everyone was complaining the code would not load on many peopels phone even though clear instrustion was there.

Thing to look outfor in the future but I would not be putting to much effort of space on your tops just now imo

What's wrong with plain English on your tops? Name number and maybe website on the back?

I know. I could say back to you what's wrong with just having your company name and number. If i said why go to the extent of having your web address too you would call me crazy. The previous poster got it spot on.
I prefer to be in stuff at the beginning if its going to add or help my business. Scaffolders etc are already carrying q-codes on their tops  ;)

But its your business. You know what is best for your market or what your business aims might be.

I brought this to the forum and every one told me it was littering.
WHERE ARE ALL THOSE FOOLS NOW?
I have a leaflet printed 3 per  A4 page on card its has all my details and services I offer, but it does not go through the letter box. It has a hole at the bottom and fits over the door handle. So the home owner has to remove it and I have watched they all read it. If it is there the next day I can say they have not read it so I get a guaranteed show in. So far it working well got 5 new customer on the week end.It does not get lost among all the other junk mail in the postbox. ITS NOT THE BULL AND THE LEAFLET THAT WORKS IS THE DELIVERY.

The only issue I have with them Lee is if people are away, its an advert to burglars....
I have had issues in the past with people going nuts cos leaflets not put all the way through, ask your local crime prevention officer on their opinion....

As for QR codes, I think you are spot on. Get them on now, they look cool and they will take over more and more as the smartphone market grows....

Not sure they readable across the street though on a t shirt and might get deformed...

Every little helps ... lots of restaurants have them point to their place on review websites cos google love review sites. I read that google see it has a positive citation from real live humans and they (google) value those recommendations.

So print them on your invoices, receipts and tickets post clean. No need to reveal what it is, people are curious and love to have a fiddle with technology so catch it while it's hot I say. When the novelty wears off we'll all be just ignoring them like everything else!

Thats not a bad idea, cant see it being great on a t shirt though, print will wear off and probably wont work.

But nice idea on van, invoices etc

Just ordered 40k leaflets £479.00 double sided full colour A5. They work with a company called News Quest. Anyone heard of these.
They charge approx £12.00 per 1000 to deliver the leaflets. I was thinking using them for some and delivering myself with the lads with some more.

Not sure where your from, but News Quest is a local paper company in the north. I know theyre pretty big, so will prob own most local rags now, so, your leaflets will most prob be going out in the local rag....bad idea!

Not the company, but leaflets in the paper, usually 1 of many, and many local freebies go straight in the bin.

I know its expensive, but solo distribution (your leaflet on its own) is the best way to go, but usually costs from £40 per 1,000.

Mine are always 2 sided, windows one side and upvc/conservatories the other, so a 2 or 3 connie cleans pays for the leaflets!!!!

£12 per 1000 is far too low for leaflet distribution.  it takes an hour to deliver between 100-200 leaflets.    £12 doesnt even pay for 2 hrs minimun wage...  and thats without any profit margin for them.

sounds more like you'll be paying £12 per 1000 for some cowboy to dump your leaflets!

sounds more like you will get them delivered in a paper with a bunch of other leaflets, solo leaflets work the best, I dont know about you but most papers I get get dumped straight in the bin leaflets included
