lets get anal about this  ;D ;D ........... the calculations didnt take into effect time to move the squeegee over the glass only amount of strokes .............. a "12" squeegee compared to a "24" squeegee would be more manouverable so not as clear cut I think .

Funny this topic should come up as I have a row of shops in Chester all with big panes of glass and used to do them with a big mop and squeegee ... "24"  but did find the big squeegee too cumbersome so now I use big mop and "14" squeegee

you can tell its raining today  ;)

lol I know, chucking it down here. Have you seen Mark Hendersons video on using a pole and wagtail for store fronts? It might help you get quicker through the work but needs practice??

'Tis true when using the "American Method" of pulling top to bottom but I think for the "English Way" there is an optimum size at about 14" due to the dificulty turning a larger blade.

wagtails are brilliant especially on a pole for the big jobs
and i have to say the wagtail rubber imo is the best

What a strange article.

4 minutes to clean a 6ft by 8ft piece of glass - I would say it takes nearer 30/45 seconds and why wipe the rubber?

Generally, a piece of glass that size be done without taking the squeegee off it.

Origianally a window cleaning warehouse 650 two man set up but now just a 650 tank with twin pumps as the 4040, prefilters and di vessel attached to an ibc in my garage static system

there are some local guys i see in the morning on my way to work and they also use 12in squeegees to clean large plate glass windows on shop fronts.

i use a 14in unger ergotech squeegee for most domestic work and i have a 18in swivelock squeegee for large plate glass and trad pole work.using a unger BOAB that carries 2 squeegees comes in handy at times.

i know  its a sweeping generalisation but most window cleaners i come across dont care what equipment they use and dont have any pride in their work.

some dont even use a squeegee.still on wet scrim,dry scrim.unbelievable i know!! ;D ;D ;D

ive never used a 12in squeegee in 18 years of window cleaning.

Cooooool. If you add everything up how much that all cost you? Do you have a tank in your van to transfer from your static or do you use trolley and jerry cans?

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

"For example if it took you 4 minutes to clean the same window with a 12″ squeegee, you could cut that time down to 2 minutes by using a 24″ squeegee instead. So if you charged $4.00 to clean that window you would have increased your earnings per minute from $1/per minute to $2/per minute."

Use a 72" squeegee and cut it to 40 seconds, increasing your earnings to $6 per minute.

Extreme but it shows just how daft that argument is.

I'm not having a go but why publish an article that's a pile of rubbish as any window cleaner who's used a squeegee for more than a few minutes knows already?

I'm just curious. Thanks.
