Title: Very Fitting
Post by: Simon Gerrard on June 06, 2012, 08:15:55 am

It was very fitting yesterday to be working on Cunard's newest liner, Queen Elizabeth and as fitting to be cleaning the carpet in the Britannia Restaurant. Apart from is being the Jubilee, it was also the very first time all three Cunard Queens had been in Southampton together.

You would have been able to see our van from that angle, we were gone by 12, just before the heavens opened.

I can just imagine Simon doing a quote and casually flipping through a few of those pictures. Who's going to say no?  8)

Len, what's a sleuth gate?  Is that where Inspector Morse, Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple get on? ;)

Simon... this pic made me think especially the previous pic of your van by a ship. How do you get
the hoses up on deck?

Ash,
This is the view from the 16th deck of P&O Azura last saturday. Each of the ship-to-shore lines are 175 feet long, reaching from the Truck Mount and landing on the 16th Deck with 25 feet to spare. They are then joined to with another 450 feet of additional, total line useage of 800 feet to clean a very large Buffet Restaurant area, one on each side of the ship. The lines are pulled up by rope.

Tony,
No, I've got two, a Titan 875 and a Cub. Cub doesn't do ships tho, well not at that height.

It is very impressive, I think that to myself every time we do a job that high and that long, which is often. The really impressive part about it is the overall  performance of the system which is mind blowing given what it is doing and given that we only have three hours to clean around 700 sq metres of very dirty carpet, which on the face of it can't be done but it can, if you know how ;)
