Never work for neighbours, friends or relatives. Not unless you do it for free.

I have some customers that have done this to me repeatedly (not immediate neighbours though, these are 25 miles away).

Last week two of them (sisters living next door to each other) asked me to do them again. My response was that I am only in this area today and will be finishing at 5:00pm, but will do them if I have the time. If I can't I will be back in a few weeks' time and will do them then if I can fit them in. I cleaned one but ran out of time to do the other. She may not get them done next time either as I have a full day in their village and won't make a special trip for them because they have bumped me before when I did.

In your case, it sounds like it would be a one off clean, so if you were to do them, make sure you make her pay top dollar or remind her of her past attitude towards you (tactfully of course) and walk away.

John

hahaha i know... a few moths ago when i set my WFP window cleaning service up i was doing my house... practising my set up etc...

neighbour whos a bit of a 2 poops... ( ive had 1 so he's had 2!)... says you dont fancy doing mine mate?.... i reply ... no probs ... if you dont mind paying me.... he replies .. i'm not paying you... i reply ... i'm not cleaning them then...

End of conversation...

I'd not do them on Weds... make them come begging and whack them for top dollar one off clean for messing you about mate...

funny you should mention that bob ... i knocked on the door as i need to access the back husband answered and said oh yeah hang on ill ask her (the wife) . then i heard an arguement from the two of them and husband comes back with his tail between his legs. he says can we leave it this month. thats when i decided to dump and find 2 more to replace....my first encounter with a messer and they only live a few doors from me..lol

i clean 3 of my neighbours windows for free every time i clean my own.they only take a few mins each as their small flats.i keep in with my neighbours on a friendly basis.its a pretty tough area here in salford and lots of unemployment and drugs and alcohol problems.most are skint and no chance of getting a job.i even bung one of them the odd tenner now and again when their nearly out of electric on their meter.i dont expect it back.sometimes its good to help people out esp if your making a good living yourself.

in fact ill be cleaning them tomorrow when i clean my own.then ill clean my car and van ready for work on wednesday.i ended up shirking working the bank holidays!just cant bring myself to work em anymore! ;) ;D ;D ;D

I used to do my sister in laws and her mothers in town
In Jan she texted me to say can we leave it now till April because of the weather??
I ain't been back mate! Told her I'm too busy (which is true) to do their houses 3x a year-it's not worth it

Are these folk friends of yours? I'd wager not?
People will just ask expecting cheap cleaning at the drop of a hat - id happily say yeah I'll do it - at treble the price
Just tell the you don't do one offs and if they want your services expect to pay a premium
Then on Wednesday evening take great joy in slowly cleaning your own windows  ;D ;D ;D

I am all heart Daz! I am accommodating to the point of (and sometimes beyond) doing myself a disservice, but it has happened so many times now that I am having to tell these people in a very tactful way that it is not something they can pull on me again and get away with. It is a great help that I am not as desperate for the work as I was at the beginning, and they know it.  :)

I clean my whole, small estate, 20 houses, and treat them all as I would any other customer.

If they want clean windows they pay me just like anyone else would, very simple really ;)
