Title: Waiting for water
Post by: PurefectWindowCleaning on June 04, 2012, 05:44:02 pm
Every time I turn my system on, by the time the water starts coming out of the brush, over a minute has passed. Doesnt sound like a lot, but when your just stood there waiting, I tend to think to myself 'id of got that window cleaned by now off my ladder'

Am I missing a trick?

whats taking the time.
does your pole hose drain out every time.

i have the female rectus fitting on the pole hose which is water tight, so holds the water in the pole hose.
and on my reel have a tap, so that always has water in, the only thing that has to fill is a short hose to the reel.

At the minute im using hozelock fittings, the end of the hose that connects to pole IS NOT  a stop end, so I imagine when I reel i the hose, its draining out? Either that or when i reel in the hose, the water in the hose is going back into tank. (not sure if thats possibly mind)

Try a stop end and see if that helps....

There's no way you should be waiting a minute for water mate stop end or no stop end
Might be something to do with the calibration of your pump controller?

i WOULD GET RID OF HOSE LOCKS, sorry for shouting, I would get rectus 21 female on the pole hose, a tap and male rectuse after hose reel end, this should cure this problem, and also stop water going everywear in your van/biddy carrier  ;D

I used to use hozelock connectors for a while and never had to wait a minute for water - the only real probs I had were they never lasted very long before they needed replacing
I would suggest rectus26 as a definite replacement - much more durable

+1

Rectus 21 are RUBBISH and need replacing every couple of months.

Rectus 26 or 19 do the job much better.  ;)

It sounds like your hose reel is draining back into your tank,.. a stop connector on the reel would fix this.

how high up is your pump form your tank.

i wonder if the pump is re primming every time.
if its higher than the outlet then you need to move it.

How would be best to fit some kind of stop end here to stop water going backwards when reeling in the hose?

Over a minute?!

Did you get this sorted in the end?

Surely has to be your dead end calibration on your pump controller.

Yeah its sorted now mate. I just fitted a stop end at the end of hose and its fine now, only have to wait 1.5 seconds for water  ;D
