from experience I would not use hose locks on an ibc tank they take forever to self level. look for ibc fittings online and use them 2 inch pipe levels near on instantly
I would use a wickes :D transfer pump about £40 and get some 1.5/2 inch trecoflex (spelt something like that) hose to pump it out (the fill time is awesome (layflat hose is a nightmare) if you want layflat hose b&q sell it for about £30 ish.
Use good quality fittings for the hose to pump or they will rust ;)
Ballcock just a standard one from wickes or anywhere will do the job

I posted about a ball cock I made up - http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=128327.msg1112559#msg1112559
You'll lose 10psi with this, but I like it; I trust mechanical a lot more than I trust electrical.

Just out of interest really but why are you going to buy a second RO system?

im not m8, im gonna take the RO system out of the van and use that alongside a 2nd 4040 filter.LOW PRESSURE
Probably my post is missmessaged m8.
i intend on having a 2x 1000ltr ibc'slinked and set up with 2 x prefilters 20" and 2 x 4040's then 3 x di vessels to recirculate the resins. ( because i have them )
at my last reading of tds via 3 individual di's , 1st was 6ppm, 2nd was 1ppm, then on last di it was 0ppm.
, so i will fill the 1st one up with new resin when the last one rises and put this as the last one. =0ppm = reusing perfectly good resin .
then transferred to the vans via transfer pump.
hope this makes sense m8 ;D
i currently got a 650ltr tank in the traffic and intend on uprating that to 1000ltr and moving the 650 ltr to the new van for me to conduct oneoffs and first cleans only.

That sounds like a good set up to me. Are you aiming at canvassing a new round then soon?

no not really m8, 3000+ leaflets a week/ every week are bringing in regular new work and to be honest im absolutley stacked out .
So i am preparing myself for my growth in the next 12 months onwards. which ironically started today! ( lee pryor note this date )
Purchased the ibcs today & collecting them next week after they have been jetwashed from a business friend 2 for £60 ;D and need to get them set up asap.
in order to get the vans fully able to handle the new work i constantly generate.
i need a quick water supply. to handle our expansion.
AS OF TODAY NEW CUSTIES ARE FIRST AND EXISTING CUSTIES CAN WAIT A WEEK LOL

wrong way round on that last sentence imo mate ;)
I am expanding too now (fingers crossed have the right staff in place but will always look after my customers first, then comes new customers, extras for regulars then one off cleans and extra jobs in that order

i was only joking m8 ;)
how many staff do you have ianww.?
i looked on wickes and the only pump i see at around £40 is a submersible and what is that hose you mentioned m8

Hi Carl
Without a pencil to actually draw it in front of you, see if you can visualise this:-
1)take water from mains
2)hard water-through softener ,soft water-go to step 3
3)IMO ,get a water pressure booster pump
4)hard water-through your pre filters,soft water-go to step 6
5)water through your stripped off r/o
6)now through your resin bed for final polish
Tricoflex for your sub pump to transfer to your van(s)
Optional if you put a float switch onyour ibc ,we don't it's on a timer but tbh,we go through so much water now that it's on constant
Hope that helps a little
Good luck
Roy

What's the payload of your Trafic, if you don't mind me asking? I was under the impression that they were either 1023kg or 1212kg. Unless the new ones are much higher, a full 1000 litre tank will overload both models (with you and a full tank of fuel and other equipment).

with a tap tds of 240ppm .
would i benefit greatly from a softener??
and yep at 1000ltrs im over weight so a 900 litre is gonna have to be sourced.
or bolt a chap 300 ltr net to the 650 and use that as reserve.
does anyone know where the best place for ibc fittings is?
im looking to join the 2 with the biggest bore i can..

Hi Carl
Yes-it will take out a lot of the limesacle that would otherwise have to go through your filters,r/o
Plus, if you have it fitted to your domestic supply, the house will benefit too(cheaper washing, less soap, better skin health)
we had one installed by harveys and its a good little set up
Ring me if you want any more info

Ian why not added another DI resin vessal and save yourself resin cost ?

mmmmm had thought about it but when 4040 on new prefilters it produces at 002 / 004 when few months old it goes up to 006 / 008 so only need to change resin a few times a year and to save resin even more I run 4040 direct into IBC for about 20 minutes until TDS at its best then connect to DI
