How come Groupon is dominating top natural listings for Google search for "carpet cleaning Edinburgh". Its been coming and going for about two months now and is really peeing me off. I thought Google was wanting to provide the best results for the consumer. ??? Is this happening in other areas?
-
Nope.....purge the history cache and all that stuff from your browser or change to a different browser. From here, Groupon does not show in Edinborough at least on the first 3 pages on Google.
I'v never seen Groupon show on any searches. It could be because you'v been looking at Groupon and it is showing as a search preference.
-
Do you think its because he's been looking at Groupon offers relating to carpet cleaning?
Because, a lot of people browse Groupon, if they look at groupon today and look for a carpet cleaner tomorrow, they might see the same results.
Just wonder if its because its CC related

In a word....yes! ;D

Strong Brand

As said above its google remembering your past searches.
You could be looking online at tents, then go onto eBay, adverts for tents will be shown.
Keep on searching and looking at your own site that will be ranked higher on google just on your pc.

Rab,
I've got you top of the Places results and Tony at Dirtmaster top of the organics (no. 8 on the page.
That's looking using a Birmingham IP address and cookies cleared with CCleaner.
I agree though, from a searchers point of view, the Google results are the worst ever (the exact opposite of Penguin's stated objectives).

I was thinking the same thing, but i've been on groupon for my golf deals, cleaned me cache now not showing

Cheers guys. I think it was just a cookie issue, still a bit strange as I,m not in the habit of visiting that site. Ach well I`m sure I`ll find something else to worry about. :-\

Hi Rab, did a check, Groupon not showing on my computer either.
Heard this on the news the other day..
Soon when visiting sites we will have pop up boxes come up asking for our permission to use cookies, it's a new law just came in a few weeks ago;
