Are these any good
http://www.amtechuk.co.uk/shop/Vacuum_Solution_Hoses_Hide_A_Hose-cid-63-1.html
Didnt realise you could get 25ft and 33ft etc hide a hoses. Seems a great idea, always adjusting the solution hose with my 50ft ordinary vac/solution hose.
I take it the difference in the grey and the black is the grey is plastic only(crushproof) but the black is the type with the wire running through it. I fancy the crushproof grey. Any thoughts chaps?
Thanks
Chris

The grey hose if for low psi machines. The black for higher rated.
-
135psi being low I take it?

These hoses are CFR specific as they have a trigger built into them. This enables you to switch easily between CFR tools.
You can however, remove it if you wish.
-
Not all are specific to CFR, they are all high pressure.
I have 2 x 33ft grey they are 1200psi.
I does make life easier in some situations.

Thanks chaps. Think I'll buy some. I'm forever battling with the solution/vac hose sliding along each, a real pain.

hello ajb i noticed you have 2x33feet on your machine i have a cfr and 25ft and 33ft with these two hoses connected iam just short of the lofts distance i have to take the machine inside the house if i took the 25ft of and added a 33ft i wouldnt have to do this just wondering how that effects your vac pick up sorry to change the subject

I have 2 hidahoses each the full 10 mts. That extra 2,5mt makes them a lot more convenient.
The disadvantage of hidahoses is that the solution will cool down to a greater degree than exterior hoses.
I use cold water so I does not matter.
-
I rarely use my Hide a hoses, as i use seperate
hoses 1 x 40 ft , 1 x 50ft and 1 x 10ft. I find
2 x hide a hoses restricts the airflow a little too
much, better to use 1 x normal and 1 x Hide a hose.
solution cooling was never a problem with a
Powrflite as it's so hot anyway, also during winter
they actually help maintain the temp.
-
so if i buy another 33feet and attach it to the other 33ft it would be ok is that right or am i been thick ???

You can put as much as you like on. It just means that you will lose a bit of vac performance for each bit put on. More drying strokes and take off the excess as soon as possible.

kinver clean thanks for your help much apreciated
all the best michael

Whats the max hose length you can use with the power flyte without losing to much vacuum

How long is a piece of string???
I have run an ancient twin vac with 150 ft plus.
Slows things down a bit but the access was terrible.
-
Most i've used with my Powrflite was 116 ft,
Obviously slightly slower but performance was
still pretty good.

i now know i have been worried about nothing thanks ajb

Chris, in my experiences of the wire-wound black stuff these sorts of hide-a-hose are only really viable for a short piece of line, like 12ft or so to run an upholstery tool off. There are several problems with it compared to using dedicated separate hoses
They don't lie straight, more like in a pig-tail. The solution hose inside is not as flexible as dedicated solution line, it's just a bit of braided steel with a bit of plastic round it so it will develop a "memory" from being coiled up. This is made worse by the fact that the solution hose contracts a lot under a strong vacuum, so the length of the vac gets shorter whilst the solution hose inside remains the same... do the maths on that. It gets very annoying tbh. The "crushproof" stuff is a bit more like normal vac hose isn't it? You won't get that problem with it so much
Second problem regardless of which hose type is loss of air flow. That internal solution hose completely knackers the smooth flow of air inside the hose. If you're running a short bit of it using a high performance portable or truckmount you can afford the loss, but with a standard spec porty you'll regret it with 25ft or more.
I'd respectfully suggest you look at the logistics of how you work, if you're tripping over your hoses :)
Using 100% hide-a-hose isn't the answer, and neither is cable-tying your solution to your vac hose either, for much the same reasons as mentioned above :)
Maybe using a short bit as a whip might help out.... Amtech will customise you a length of hide-a-hose if you ask them. I got them to chop a 25ft piece in half and add the necessary extra fittings to convert the two pieces for use with a couple of different upholstery tools I use. Costs a bit of money but they do a great job of it and the service is spot on.

By the way you can "use" a porty with a mile of hose on it if you want but it won't work very well! I wouldn't want to work with more than 50ft of hose on a standard twin 5.7" porty, either parallel or series config. Might as well get a puzzi and use it with a few ft of hose and a hand tool, it'll be just as effective and quick!
