How do you send them pete, I always hand them to the counter staff in the post office and get a reciept, they then send them via internal mail, not had a problem yet

Same here never had any go missing and i've sent loads over the last few years. I always keep a record of what cheques were in each envelope though.

Yeah I have a record of each cheque and who wrote it etc courtesy of George.
I have been sending cheques this way for 7 yrs with no problems.
I have always posted them sat morn and they show by Mon evening and clear by the following Sunday.
Rang them and they quite rightly said it was my problem lol,and as said royal mail aint interested till theyve been missing 15 days ::)
Just wondered if anyone had experienced this and had a solution.
Thanks anyway guys.

I had a batch go missing when we had the bad snow in 2010. Absolute pita, had to go back to each individual custy and get another. Was advised to post cheques into "the hole in the wall" but means another journey so have carried on using normal post and fingers crossed, had no more probs.

First batch of cheques I ever did with the Abby went missing, I phoned them and told them the amounts and sort codes and they'd been paid into someone else's account. It all got sorted but now I always pay them into the hole in the wall.

This may have been done but you are supposed to put the sort code and account number on the back of cheques. They should also be accompanied by a completed paying in slip. I normally pay in via the Santander ATM (I live near a branch). The only time I posted them was fine (ATM card was broken).
