Title: one off clean enquiries
Post by: TomCrowther on May 28, 2012, 06:20:23 pm
I had four enquiries re one off cleans today. Three on the phone and one walking past as I was working. I normally get one every blue moon? Anyway, I qualify them by asking why the one off and depending on the answer I will do them if I have time. Rejected all four today as they were all just dirty people, with dirty houses who fancied clean windows for a change :) Felt good too!

Just busy with regular customers and patio/driveways at the weekend  ;) I do squeeze them in if I can but not if they don't have what I think is a good reason for not having a regular service. Good reasons include, "husband used to do them but he's died and the house is going on the market"

I got a one-off call today. I asked her how many windows she had, I know the property already as I do next door. There are thriteen windows, I told her £30.00. £30.00 for 20 minutes is as good as it's likely to get. I wouldn't refuse them myself, I love one-off top-draw hourly rates.

I had a posh lady today, from a posh area, phone me wanting a clean, and when I mentioned I only 'take on regular customers' she kinda agreed with a 'we'll chat about it when you come to quote', and again I stressed that I do have terms and conditions and don't do 'one offs' and went onto bore her with the reasons why.

She phoned later in the day cancelling the quote.

Fair enough, but I suspect she would've been a 'not this time please' type customer.

Quoted 4 one offs this week

Just charge double , some I get someone don't, but suits me.

Also, when new custy calls, first question I ask,  is it a one off or regular clean youre looking for ?
Sorts out most SM
(serial messers)

Anyway, that's it!

its a problem thou is it not,if you say i only do regulars that will be £10 a month, she says ok after two cleans packs you in
i suppose the best way is to charge double and then hope it stays as a regular customer

I have had a few ask for one-offs and I will do them but I charge my double rate for them....it's work, it's money and if they agree I book them in when I have spare time.

Dave.

If you can charge double for a one off and they become regular, happy days,
I also, subject to my gut feeling quote extra for first clean, my theory is if they serious they will pay extra for first clean, plus if they cancel after I don't care because I've got my extra money for that first clean!

Lol what i meant by 1 offs is
People who are iregular ie every 4 months up to a year who phone you up as and when they like.
At the end of the day if you dont overcharge them you are likely to get work from them again.
If you charge them double the going rate you probably wont see them again.

I always ask if they want monthly, some say "depends on the price"
I then reply the price depends on the frequency.
Usually the good uns ask how much for every month, the proper one offs will still ask how much for 1 time, then you know to charge accordingly.
That said i sometimes price a daft amount if i dont want to do it for access or other reasons that annoy me,overgrown garden/gear all over the place etc, even if they want regular cleans.
