for guys who use hot water,
got some very dirt ingrained soff/fac/gutters so want to use my gas hot BUT don't want cracked glass on windows.
Unfortunately I don't have a thermometer.
Can I guessetimate safe temp by hand ?
I mean can you put your hand in water easily when still hot enough?
Or not?
thanks...

-

yea hot but not scolding, works for me, have to turn it down in winter though
-
thanks mate
i will get a thermometer asap
at the moment i have the gas (fogwash) set on minimum and the water on minimum and the setting on winter,
you can put your hand under for about 2 seconds max !!
may have to go to the summer settings (cooler)...
any one else on here with a gas heater ?
thanks...

think this is a problem for a lot of guys that use gas, not much control of the hot water comes out of them
-
what do you have your settings on graham ?
-
spray the fascias, roofs with virosol in a 5 L pressure sprayer then wfp off.just have your water warm.
i use a cold system and virosol is sufficient without hot water.the grime just falls off and dissolves!!great stuff!! ;) ;D ;D ;D

If you have a digital TDS meter most have a thermometer on them.

about 25c free hot water from the sun
-
If you increase your water flow this will lower the temperature.

I normally have it around 60C, however it's very hard to measure by describing how it feels, generally I'd say it's just short of scolding. I didn't have gas so no hot water for the whole day today and found it hard. I used a lot more water, stubborn marks took more work to come off and my working day was longer. The sun was splitting the flagstones as well, so plenty of ambient temperature.
There is a big difference between hot and warm. I reckon it equates to at least 2 or 3 average jobs a day.

thanks for all reply's
I worked for a while with setting on winter, minimum gas and minimum water - but the temp. coming out the brush was scolding, so turned setting to summer and raised the gas flow slighty but left the water flow on minimum.
This seemed safer, could keep hand under water flow for about 5 or 6 seconds.
Will raise water flow tomorrow to try it out.
As far as temp. at brush does anyone know a safe but hot temp. for when I do get a thermometer.
thanks...

I think the rule of thumb is 20 degrees above ambient temperature. However the faster you go, the less contact time the water has with the glass so you can raise the temperature significantly if you don't hang around.
So -10C ambient then water at +10C, if you want to risk it say +25-30C or in the summer 25C ambient then water at 45C or for those who live dangerous 60-65C.
Ive never cracked a pane yet.

I have the fogwash set to minimum flow on water and minimum flow on gas on the winter setting,I always run it very hot on 1st cleans that are double glazed but keep it luke warm for single panes
