Post by: William Sharpe on May 27, 2012, 09:16:01 am
Hi all has anyone got a way to clean out vacuum pipes I have 2 spare pipes that have not been used for a while and stink like crazy I don't want to fill them with a bleach solution as I fear this may damage the pipe any ideas/tips  will be appreciated :-\

Mix up a bit of sanitiser in a bucket, suck a bit of it through the hoses, then chuck some bits of scrap cloth in the bucket and suck them through, which will clean off the inside hose walls.  You might have to fish them out of your tank and send them through a few more times to do the job completely.

Suck up the last of the solution and let the hoses sit, they should be a lot better by the next day.  All depends on how good your sanitising product is of course :)

I use solutions cleanguard to keep hoses/tank stink-free, works extremely well.

We do the same as jim said and that helps to keep them nice and fresh and non smelling.
