I live about 1.5 hours from a popular seaside resort and hav always thought it would be nice to have a day or 2 work doen there. Stop the night in a b&b.
Has anybody tried doing something similar, and has it worked for you? Cheers

I did a holiday retreat home a couple of weeks ago. It was a first clean and took me a day and a half.
It was 50 miles away from home, and I was invited to stay overnight. I had lunch and evening meals on the first day, a free room for the night and breakfast on the second morning.
I also had 6 holiday bungalows nearby to do as well while I was there.
Came home with a nice fat cheque, wad of cash and a full stomach. Happy days. :)

bobplum iv been helping a mate 4 a couple of days this week as its my slack week. funny enough we were on garden city an wot a shiiiit hole that is glad its not my work..........

I used to do roped access work all around the country. The various companies I did work for gave an allowance for B & B but I used to stay on camp sites. I enjoyed every minute.
I didn't obviously use campsites during the depths of winter.
Whether B & B or campsites, it's an ok way to work.

Wick,Caithness to Chichester once a month about 700 miles each way. Don't think he does it any more now that he's been able to sell his round. Hope not anyway!

He moved from Chichester to Watten, just outside Wick about 20 miles South of John O'Groats. Sale of his round in Chichester fell through and he kept popping down and staying with family every month until he managed to sell it. Was a few years back too when the A9 wasn't as good as it is now. Brave Man!
On a non-window aside there was a chap who worked in one of the garages in Exeter doing some specialised electronic diagnostic stuff who moved to Alicante, Spain but used to commute by plane - 1,189 miles. Made the local papers, used to fly in Sunday night and fly back to Spain after work on Thursday.
Presumably he was paid well.....

When I first started there was a hard working guy from Geordieland (or the North East), a big lad - who used to travel down to South East Wales for a week to work. He used to stay at a friends house (a fellow from the same religion as himself) and graft hard for a week.
I asked why, 300 miles is a long way to go to clean windows, and he complained that prices were far superior down here than he got in the North East; and even after petrol and digs, he was well up on what he could earn from the area he lived. He finished about 8 years ago and went into house renovation; I don't know if anyone knows of him.

Wick to Chichester (on the south coast near Portsmouth) though, that's one hell of a drive.
I used to do from Brighton to Ruislip, West London once a month for a large commercial job and although the distance is only maybe 80 miles, it included 40 odd miles on the M25 including going past Heathrow in the rush hour.
Journey time, anything from 2 hours to once, 8 hours.

First time we drove to Wick in the late 70's we stayed at Newton-Le-Willows, Liverpool and foolishly drove up on a Bank Holiday. Admittedly it was pre-A9 work, Bridges across the Black Isle etc but it took 23 hours! My Parents drove from Lairg, Sutherland to Carlisle yesterday in 7 hours with a few stops. There is a club that drives from Lands End to John O'Groats and back in less than 24 hours but it's still a long way!

I did a large Hotel last year , 50 miles from me I asked for a room and got one , A manager at a place I clean , his window cleaner travels over a 100 miles to clean in my area , and stays with his Mum .
It does happen, give it a go

Years ago for a while round here there used to be a group of window cleaners that would come down from South Wales and sleep in their van. They kipped in the car park of a grotty pub called the Viking and spent most of their takings in the pub by all accounts. Probably came from Chepstow, they seem to have more window cleaners there than they know what to do with.

was he a JW Tosh? thats the obvious guess.
