this week ive seen 8 new window cleaners in my area driving about.all with old cars and ladders and buckets in between the rungs.
i can honestly say ive never seen any of them before!there is one of two wfp outfits with brand new vans as well.
ive also not picked up much work in the last 2 months.i usually get a few enquires every week.i think we re reaching saturation point for window cleaners in my area.
anyone else noticed the same?
a few years ago i knew around 8 window cleaners who worked the same area.i reckon its more like 20 now including the doleys.
times have defo changed where i work anyway! ;D ;D ;D

dazmond

ive also had some parts of my round canvassed and leafletted 5-6 times already this year.not lost any work though!! ;) ;D ;D ;D
-
see you can count now !!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

This is the time of year for them but most of them you will never see again I generally find. The brand new vans turning up are another matter. Thats more a sign of the times.

I looked on google the other month and there's been a slight drop off on people searching for window cleaning kit if anything, but always worth monitoring closely. I'll have another look tomorrow when I'm bored and report

last 4 or 5 weeks ive noticed loads im sure come the winter most will disapear :D

All the newbies do is upset the apple cart.we are reaching a saturation point in the market, its defo more difficult to find customers.
-
Maybe it's got something to do with window cleaning forums where windies give out all types of advice and for free like how to start up, how to get customers etc etc etc.
Just a thought.

inevitable in this economic climate . people getting less help from the social, less jobs.. what are people gonna do. everyone's got to eat. when times get better it wouldn't be a problem as there will be more options about...sign of the times... its gonna be like this for a while

I have had some if my work door knocked by new cleaners but not lost any but still pick work one or two new customers week which suits me im at about 300 customers now and im flat out with extra work to
-
Am seeing more window cleaners about as the building trade has taken a real hit here in .NL but on the other hand the round increases each year between 7 - 12% so not to worry...just keep an eye on your numbers.
Cheers
Dave.

Twice as many window cleaners in my town as there were 2 years ago. It's getting very competitive now and harder to get new or better work.

Yup.
Some of the stuff that gets posted..................
Imagine you are someone who has been made redundant or just looking for a new job or whatever, and you read on this forum about earning £65 an hour or doing 50 houses in 6 hours and all that. You'd be thinking I'll have some of that.
I spoke to a new window cleaner early last year. He had a bright shiny new reach and wash van, he had a canvaser, a clip board and his business plan in a nice folder. After 1 months he'd be earning this amount, after 3 months he be on that much money and after a year, I can't remember the exact figure but I laughed out load which was a bit rude I know.
When I asked where he got the idea he's be earning that much after a year, he said from two window cleaning forums and a 'business' manager at his bank. He'd also borrowed the money from the bank using his house as security.
Anyway, I got told I had no vision, no this or that and he was 'going for it' big time.
As he lived only a few streets away, I used to see his van from time to time on his driveway. During the summer, it seemed to be there all the time and by Christmas, it had gone.
Window cleaners come and window cleaners go. It happens all the time.

Yes you do get these people on here from time to time with a business plan. I have no problem with that despite the fact that some of them have been quite sneering and some have been downright arrogant. But where are they now? All these killer marketing techniques are no substitute for plain old fashioned hard graft. Thats where the problem lies I suspect.
My business ethic - a pound is a pound and once its in my pocket its mine! I haven't done so bad out of it.

Best not to have all ya eggs in one basket. Look at other services to offer.
I do pest control as well, and advertise connie cleaning heavily. I see new vans all the time, but it doesnt bother me at all. Always looking for other things to do alongside :)
