In the early days we had clearish hoses that were wire wound, as soon as you put the tool on the floor they shrank, pulling you all the time.

Custy mentioned them today and said that when chem dry did it they had them. I think its a good idea when they are over your back watching they can actually see the machine collecting the dirt(suppose you would have to clean them out a lot as well to keep them clear lol

I personally think they are best left as they are. Clear hoses could also work against you just as they could work for you  ;)

just put an inspection tube near the wand with a short hose run and cuffs beyond that to the main hose - clear plastic tube like the ones you get with a rotovac machine - in truth it don't take much muck to turn water dirty brown - but then I suppose showing them you are cleaning the carpet is as important as actually cleaning the carpet
