Title: xtreme 47
Post by: Scrimble on May 20, 2012, 07:58:14 pm
thinking about buying a xtreme 47 pole are they really worth the £1200 price?

i've taken over a job which requires a pole of approx 40ft+ to be cleaned 4 times a year which my current slx30 doesnt come near to in height,

And you will see your answer  ;)

You get what you pay for, It's a lovely piece of kit! I questioned if I could justify the price tag but if you've got the work it will soon pay for itself and you can always add extra sections and go higher if you need too.  :)

Yes they are worth it. I have the 47, I also had the 48. The 47 has now replaced the 48, has been re-engineered & also had mid-way clamping points added on every section. The 47 is more rigid at height & the mid clamping points are a delight! ;)

You can lift it up from the ground at over 40ft with brush, neck & tubing on.

I had the SL2 modular before too.

I wouldn't use anything else above 35ft now.

My thoughts exactly.

If you only need to add an extra 10ft every so often then the cheapest option, as mentioned by brian barber, would be to add a section 7 and base section 8 from a Super-Max40 pole.

The Xtreme47 is a world apart to use compared to the Super-Max range, but if you would only be using it every 3 months it just would not be worth the investment. If you had the money to burn though my recommendation would be to get an Xtreme25 which is an amazingly easy pole to use and then buy the Xtreme35 and Xtreme44 extension packs. This works out slightly more expensive than the Xtreme47, but  would give you an Xtreme for everyday work (25ft) an Xtreme mid-level (35ft) and the 44ft for when you need it.

thanks for posting alex, think i'm going to go for the xtreme 47, the job is nearly as much as the pole and when i do get jobs which are even higher i like the fact that i can add the extra sections

Worth bearing in mind that you can also add the Xtreme modular extensions onto the Xtreme44 (35ft plus 44 extension) as well as the Xtreme47.
