that fickle type gets used to clean windows and then the novelty wears off .

Second clean on a fronts only today. I knocked and the customer came out, looked at the windows and said, yes please. :-X

I think there's also a type of customer that are grumpy nits, but over the years have lost that many window cleaners that they stay with you.
I cleaned one today like that, and I've got her softening - with my Geordie charm - but she doesn't like what she has to pay and nor does she like my frequency.

Its got to be a bye bye for them. I think you should just explain your terms and ask them did they want a regular window cleaner. That way they know they cannont muck u about and also you know where u stand!

in an ideal world it would be the correct and proper thing to do but
A. Its the general public were dealing with and these days some just dont care and its what suits them and stuff everyone else.
B. Having sold cars for about 25 years it makes you all bitter and twisted towards the messers ;) ;D
but being serious now yes all customers know Im a regular or nothing ... ok some may forget but point A is very true.
Got too many customers and constantly 2 weeks behind now so only go where Im wanted nowadays if I had an empty round then yes my standards would be more flexable ............. my customers have changed from "is it that time again already" to "where have you been, we thought you had packed in".

"I WOULDNT BOTHER AS ITS NOT WORTH IT AS ITS FORECAST RAIN TOMORROW AND THE REST OF THE WEEK!!"
this must be the worst brush off!!only happened a few times but happened to me a few weeks ago and id been cleaning her windows for 10 years with no problems!! ;D ;D ;D
tried to explain but she was having none of it!and slammed the door in my face! ??? ???
it was dry that day and most of the rest of the week.how does she thinks i make a living? ??? ??? ;D ;D
DUMPED!!

I've started dropping customers as soon as I feel messed about. In the long run I find it saves me money, as "not this time" tends to be contagious on certain streets - this sends out the message you are a regular window cleaner.
-
i dont even try to explain anything i just say ok and never go back

I am still in the position of needing every customer I can get ... within reason.
Also, where I live now there is generally a different perception towards window cleaning. By this I mean that most people don't want their windows cleaned on a regular basis, or give all manner of reasons/excuses for saying 'not today'. Therefore there is more of a market here to provide a service for people in a similar way to running a mobile shop, ie if I am around and they want their windows cleaned, I do them there and then. If that particular day is not suitable, they wait until I am around again, and I will do them if I can fit them in.
In the meantime I am still building my business by trying to attract good, regular customers in order to change the perception to encouraging regular cleans, so that I can eventually drop those who fail to fit in with my business plan.
