Title: GEORGE...please help me!
Post by: CLEANCARE WC on May 17, 2012, 08:02:11 pm
Ok, Im fairly new to GEORGE and I love it, but.....

Whenever I print worksheets they are no longer in the round order! Is this because I may have checked off the work done/payments in a different order?

I dont 100% do my round in the same order every month, but want my worksheets to be in the same order everytime regardless if a job further down "my list" was done 2 days before the job that should be first on the print out.

I know there is a round order function, i messed about with that thought i had sorted it but then GEORGE printed it how he wanted to anyway. Hes being to bloody efficiiant I dont care about a date difference of one or two days.....PLEASE HELP!

This is imo the great drawback with scheduling programs.  When you enter the job details initially into George it asks you how often you want to do the job.  If you tell it "4 weeks" then every time you log a job as having been done, the George will schedule it forwards exactly 4 weeks, so next time you print out that date the jobs shown will be the ones done exactly 4 weeks previously.

For this reason George will always jumble up your round sequence.  Every visit there are reasons why a job cannot be done exactly on its due date, but the only way to ensure it appears in something like the right sequence next time is to enter it as done on the due date, rather than the actual date.

For the best part of 45 years I ran my business using pen and paper for my records - jobs can't jump off a paper record and re-attach themsleves three pages further forward, no matter what date you put as the actual clean date.  I still believe that for a sole trader one man business the most efficient (and quickest) method of record keeping is manual.  The modern obsession with computers leads people to believe that unless they have the most up to date bells and whistles system their businesses will never succeed or prosper.

I can't turn back the clock - you modern lot will just have to make the best of what you've got ;D

I agree with all of that. I was using spreadsheets until a couple of months ago. 4 rounds= 4 weeks work
print spread sheet for week 1 and off i went.

lots of benefits to GEORGE this issue being the only draw back.

Get yourself a palm off eBay for£15-£20 and use pocket george then segment your round under different headings, I'm in Milton Keynes sp I have 2 day ratio for my rounds so my round listing goes like this mk1-3rd,Mk 4-6th,Mk 6-8th etc
I sort out round order in 2 mins night before if I have a messer I can usually fit them in later into the round and I use no paper..!

If u email them u can find out more but I'm pretty sure they will only run off a PDA at present- mine was £15 great bit of kit as when u come home you plug into your pc hit one button and it updates all the main George system including the debt list,I really would hate to be without it now

george is by far the best way to organize your round IMO.

I WORK MY ROUND FROM A-Z ROUGHLY IN THE SAME ORDER!!most is monthly so no problems.what you have to do mate is make sure you ve re jigged the jobs in the right order before printing off worksheets.2 monthly for example(if your a few days late)need changing to the date order but dont take any notice of the dates on printed sheets if you know what i mean!

use the worksheets as a "guide" rather than rigidly sticking to the date of clean printed on the sheets.then when you ve done your days work spend 10 mins updating in the evening.

best £50 i ever spent on my business.

I like to be able to chop and change on the go rebook customers daily on the go as some cant be in in exactly 1 or 2 months.i have an iphone i use the calender on that to add all cleans to then when i get home i manually add them to my accounts book by pen.

My iphone is linked to my ipad via icloud so i have 2 backups so i never loose my work.i take my phone with me always if a customer calls i put them on speakerphone and can  change add appointments instantly.i take my iphone with me and it has my daily schedule on it which i can change at any given notice.

I have not seen a better system yet that has convinced me to change.
Regards. Cliff

Get www.aworka.co.uk  its far easier you can just drag and drop jobs from one day to next in the planner/calender if you dont manage to get them done because of weather or some other reason .

George sounds like to much hassle aworka is so simple and easy to use you can print out a daily or weekly job sheet or a debt list for collecting .  MIKE

I totally agree. I found a simular situation when trying to put my residential  work on to a window cleaning software. We were getting all confused as things were not in order. It made more work for me.

I use a palm and pocket George, works well for me as most of my work is 4 or 8 weekly (with a few oddities).

I think if you work monthly it will increase the hassle, what ever system you use.
