try spraying with diluted bicarb of soda.....possible indicator dye problem
-
I had the same problem last year on a similar looking rug. Three separate strong acid rinses with quick drying reversed it for me. Bi-carb didnt work
-

Cheers Steve, nice one :)

Does it have a backing cloth? What product did you clean with? Did it only go pink where it had been rubbed with washing up liquid?
colin.
-
Fusion 8 is what I used on it, it seemed to come out where the pattern is more than any where else. Yes there was a backing to it
-
Look's sweet now Steve

Thanks Steve,
Some of the older Chinese tufted rugs with a backing cloth can bleed due to there constuction.
e.g. The design of the rug is stenciled onto the pimary backing to show the maker where to insert the tufts.
during cleaning this can bleed to the surface or to the back of rug[ secondary backing].

Sodium bicarbonate, is a versatile and inexpensive household product. In addition to a multiplicity of other uses, it can remove stains from a wide variety of surfaces, whether it is used on its own or mixed with other substances. This chemical is really great .Easy to use and easiely available.I always prefer it when I need to remove stains from any fabric or other surfaces. :)
