Title: airflow rate
Post by: Johnny Czarnota on May 14, 2012, 11:31:23 pm
Can anyone tell what is the good airflow rate for carpet cleaning machine, measured in l/s?

CFM is more widely used than L/S to measure Airflow

You can use this to convert CFM to L/S

You can covert it to gallons per month if you like, bottom line is lots is better :)

Lots of lift AND air flow is even better still!

By the way, L/sec is used because it is a much higher number than ft³/min

It's the same reason portable suppliers quote their lift figures in "water" rather than inches of mercury

Also the same reason cheap stereos have their power rated in DIN or PMPO rather than RMS which is the true measure of power output ;)

It's a smoke screen to disguise lack of performance ;)

is 43 l/s any good or 17 inches of mercury lift and how does it compare?

? does it suck water.

What I really want to know is if i put ten litres into a carpet how much is pulled out.

Of course each carpet varies

If your looking at a machine with 43l/s and 17hg  , then is likely to two 1500w three stage vacs in a series configuration ( optimized for more Lift (suction) than airflow .

If the same two vacs are configured in parallel  ( airflow optimized )  the 43 l/s will double but the 17hg will half .

Best to search the pros and cons to both configurations . ( series vs parallel )

I am looking into 2 machines, one from prochem 113l/p and 150 psi and one from karcher 43l/s and 230psi, which one i should go for, whats more important psi or l/s? True about what Ian said If i put 10l onto the carpet E expect most of it to be removed. What is vacuum pressure then - 275mbar? Is it any good?

The karcher is a puzzi 400 ?  :)
275 milibar = 110"waterlift   and has 43l/s ( about 90cfm )

This machine has only one vacuum so not great id say

The prochem is likely to be a parallel twin vac
around 200 cfm and about 130 " waterlift

The prochem looks like the better buy .

Actually , if your looking at this machine ...  then the lift and Cfm data given is likely to confuse .

It gives the lift and cfm as ... 5588mm (220")/113 l/s (240 cfm)

Its gives the lift or a series setup and the cfm of a parellel setup .
It cant be both !  They must have snatched that old trick off Ed Valentine .  :D

i'd say its a parallel machine so it should read 135 " lift  and 240 cfm .

And actually the 240 cfm is overrated , would be around 200 .

I was into karcher at first but now porchem seems like a better option and its a lot cheaper. I used puzzi 200 and it was a great machine with much smaller numbers(10l sprayed on the carpet and almost 10l in dirty water tank). Puzzi 400K is £3000 and prochem is only £2000, I wonder why is there such a price difference especially when specs for prochem are greater.

Lots of machines to choose from out there ...

But for value , if i was you id look at the alltec elite 100 .

For £1450 you get twin vac ( parallel )
Twin vac stack .
3000w internal heater .

If the 100psi pump is too low for you , im sure they would fit a 150psi , or u could fit a 170psi from accessory planet  for £140 sometime  later .

What can your say about steempro powermax sx2100, any good and worth the money?
