Just bought a george hoover and wanted to know are they any good as im starting up a general cleaning business and was wondering if any good to clean/shampoo car upholestry and home floor carpets

A George vacuum or a hoover ? No if its a gutter you want to vacuum but if you've just eaten a biscuit then yes.

Are they good for anything? Are Henry's a good normal hoover then?

George is make by Numatic not Hoover - its a good tool in its place. I use a sebo bs on carpets.

The george i have is a Numatic george, does that make a difference or is it still rubbish

It is horses for courses.  What do you want it to do for you?  You want to vac some dust out of a couple of offices then wash the odd little carpet it 's OK.  However, if you have bought it as a professional wet & dry vac and carpet cleaner forget it!  It is a domestic machine at the end of the day.  We use a couple of little dry vacs for dust removal and one of those is a Henry but only because it saves us from time to time getting the big stuff out.
