Title: Get off my patch!
Post by: Bay View WCS on May 10, 2012, 09:09:09 pm
Harks back to the 1970's:

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/burnley/9698178.Padiham_window_cleaners_in_turf_war/ (http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/burnley/9698178.Padiham_window_cleaners_in_turf_war/)

So everyone just watch your 'window cleaning etiquette' from now on.

You have been warned!  ;D  ;D

So they guy beats up an older bloke just because he's too crap at his job to keep his customers.

What a scumbag. Gives window cleaners a bad name

Quite frankly I hope he tries it on with someone who carries a baseball bat in their van.

I've had loads of canvassers and windy's working in roads I work in, never a problem cos I don't cheat people, I just do a proper job.

same here sparklebright.ive had loads of canvassers knocking on my customers doors lately.not lost a single customer.one company has picked up ones ive dropped though due to payment issues/messing me about.

most of my work is in affluent areas so dont get much trouble although ive had window cleaners from miles away in wigan and leigh threaten me by phone years ago.nothing ever came of it!they just seem to disappear overnight!(weighed down with bricks in  body bags at the bottom of pennington flash!) ;) ;D ;D ;D

I didn't read it like that. (might be me who's got it wrong). I thought the older guy was the established guy in the area and the younger guy was the newcomer.

Not long after I started, seen a fellow window cleaner up his ladder- thought it would be nice to put my hand up to say hello-could not believe what happened next arms, waving-f~~k off, finger gestures the lot. Shocked me at the time but now (settled in to my round) I laugh at the thought off him!  ;D

in general, the window cleaners in my town get on and i speak to everyone, just one company think they should have every thing, one of their rivals took on one of their jobs, two of the employees decided to have a dig at the old man from the rival firm, until his son came round the corner and sorted them both out, they still don't get on.

i wouldn't take any nonsense from anyone.

The way i see it is that all this leg cocking and its my patch crap makes no sence.
The bloke who live down the road from me is a plumber, i dont think he would give a feck who came to fix my boiler!! Walsall is quite a big town and i drive around all areas of it, im a small business trying to make ends meat, so if someone the other side of town down like me doing a house on "their Patch" tought s hite, im a trades man and im there to serve customers not worrie about what some chidish dingbat thinks  ;)

I once had someone drop a leaflet through a letter box while I was cleaning.  It was funny because I was around the back (trad job so no hose to give it away).  He did apologise (and mean it) but it wasn't necessary because I thought it was funny.

No.  I did lose the job eventually but it was because they moved away.

I was working away one day when a young guy came along dropping leaflets. When he was at the house I was working on he stopped and apprehensively asked if he was on my patch.

I said he was free to go where he likes as I don't believe in patches. I even pointed to the house across the street. The owner had approached me minutes before and had rejected my quote, so I told the young guy he might get him as a customer.

We had a chat for a few minutes during which I gave him a few tips and wished him well.

best thing to do is if their trad is to wait until they climb their ladder and then give the ladder a little "shake" while their stretching on one leg to reach the top openers!works a treat!it gives them a real scare!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

That reminds me of when I was putting up the bellbox for a burglar alarm system I was installing. It was a bit of a dodgy stretch over the porch so I took my son, then about 8 to foot the ladder. Right at the bit where I was both hands off feeding in the wire he thought it would be funny to give the ladder a shake.

well has anyone ever considered the supposed w/c chasing you from their supposed w/c rounds are not real window cleaners,  you heard me right, drug dealers are investing into w/c to launder their money, buying up rounds ect, its true, so possibly your invading their territory, this is fact,

I've no idea i don;t know the full facts. I can only go on what i read. You seem to have got it completley wrong . The courts who had all the facts however gave him a very lenients sentence. Makes you (or me anyway) wonder why?

Well done John.  I had something similar happen to me, knocked a door and the lady came out the back garden, said her windy was there doing it now  ;D  I popped my head in to say hello and he and his lad were nice guys, had a chat and told em they were doing a good job then on my way.  I didn't pick up any though  :(  ;D

Carl@clearview,

Hi mate, are you putting out A3 trifolded leaflets? Are you finding a different response to A5?

Carl@clearview,

Hi mate, are you putting out A3 trifolded leaflets? Are you finding a different response to A5?

yep A3 triples for me m8

im getting 2/3 calls per thousand delivered ( same day phone call ) from regular cleans to all manor of extras.

for me they are the best by a mile, costs are £83 per thousand delivered inc flyers. so not cheap.

i think i have filled 2 days work in 1 month of cream custies and done loads of extras, connies, fascias etc etc

putting out 2k per week at the minute and intend to keep it going..
