with all this talk about pumps costing £700 and only lasting 3 months I thought I would post about how I have been cleaning for a few weeks,
A direct hook up to an outside tap.... going through a chemical injection then a propane heater then direct to the wand
no pump involved!!
I have had to make some alterations to my equipment as cleaning like this gives a very high flow rate but only about 60psi so to make use of all the flow I have increased my wand jets to 4 x 03 = 12 and i'm using a bigger bore solution line
but it cleans as good as high PSI.
for upholstery I'm just going from the tap direct to the upholstery tool. no heat or chemical just cold water.
I will probably go back to the old system but i just wanted to show there are more than 1 way to skin a cat..... without the need to buy £700 pumps

Mike are you related to that mad boffin out of "Back to the Future" by any chance! ;D
-
Good grief Charlie brown!
-
And with that shower unit...at least you will look clean as a button if you do go back to the future ;D
-
just wondering how does the propane unit compare to a diesel burner in terms of performance and economy .
-
John, it only produces 14kw of heat so does not produce anything near the heat of a diesel burner but enough for carpet cleaning.
i played with this idea as my pump went on a job so thought I would look for a simple alternative in case it happened again, i like experimenting with different ideas and this method works really well, if I wanted to spend a bit more money i could make a real snazzy system
-
I want to post but I don't know what to write :o
I can't make up my mind as to is this pure simple brilliance :o or is it making Pikies with their RD's looking professional ;D
As some domestic properties only have 40-50psi you easily get 100psi by fitting a 12v Shurflo pump.

Don't you mean...
"One point four Jiggawatts???!!!!!"

By the way, 14Kw would pull roughly 58 amps of current, take some spare fuse wire ;D

Jim I'm talking kw of heat not power consumption the Kw are produced by the propane burner it actually runs on 2 batteries
Neil remember this was knocked up with parts i had in the shed, imagine if it was done properly

I thought the electric shower was plugged in?

Mike
When are you going to develop something so we can actually buy if off you. An electric TM could'nt be too far off.

thats cool, things will have to change any ideas like that will do it,,,,

Couldn't you just run direct off the customers hot water system?
-
Alternatively , if you dont want the high cost of replacement pumps, fuel costs, noise and maintenance, then you could just buy a porty ;D
The customer won't be none the wiser if you run it from the van ;)

Especially if you leave the van engine running with a brick on the accelerator!

Hot water can be gravity fed from a emmersion tank so if you are working upstairs the pressure &flow is very low, and the fitting on hot taps can be very varied,
an outside cold tap is always the same & always has good pressure as it comes from the mains
