hi all
thinking of having a new van as our vivaro is coming on 100k and looks battered. spent 3k this year already
usual new gearbox and then alternator seized snapped fan belt that wrapped around timing belt and smashed head up great!!! >:(
I find viv ok for window cleaning but if need to use for pw its a squeeze with tank etc.
thinking of going slightly bigger like relay, daily , sprinter or movano.
any input on fuel costs or general issues?

I went to look at a LWB High Roof Vivaro a few weeks back. I was looking for a WC Van and this was a bit big for our purposes buy for PW I would have thought this ideal.
From memory it was a 2005, OK condition and lowish mileage.
I'll dig out details if you want.

Bought an Iveco Daily MWB a few weeks ago and the springs don't even move when tank is full and drums of chem and bags of moss on.
Where as the Transit we had was on it's ar$e.
Excellent van, should have bought it a long time ago but I was too tight to spend!

The Iveco's look good value but someone warned me off them saying parts will be harder to get hold of now they no longer build them. I have a Movano MWB high roof, perfect size for 1000 litre tank, powerwasher, vac you name it it all goes in. Getting old and a bit rusty so I am looking to replace. I saw a Vivaro, LWB High roof recently which looked the part.

I have a lwb new shaped transit and that sits nicely with the full jetter (1.6 tonnes) plus all the other junk as did the old smiley face ex balfours van i had. A friend has a 55 movano and he's a ground worker and needs a caster on the tow bar to hold it off the ground but his boss would'nt wait for stronger springs as that would have make it special build - 3 months wait. We all look for different things in a van and its just pot luck if its trouble free or not. Anything with electronics will be grief - one day

I'm on my third Iveco i get a new one every 3yrs..... best van I've ever driven.
started with the extra long wheel base, high roof ......a bit big for parking at terraced houses but it was great to be able to climb in the back, stand upright and walk about.
i will be getting another come september

i like the look of daily's i think robs is a daily as well.
what fuel are you getting it isnt going to be brilliant at this size whatever you get i suppose but vauxhall are boasting 34 mpg on mwb movano.

A while ago I was talking with a Van Dealer. He was was praising the Vivaro (so the same goes for the Nissan / Renault) on their MPG. He said that the main reason Ford struggle against them, aside from their reputation for rust, is they can't get anywhere near the MPG figure.
He also pointed out that all the big firms go for the Vivaro etc., mainly because of the huge savings on fuel across their fleets.
Oh, he wasn't trying to sell me a Vivaro, I already have one and was there looking at a Citroen. Whilst there I noticed a Ford he had for sale and we got talking about how it compared to the Vivaro.

I've never known a salesman ever talk total ***** ;) Just count the vans going the other way as an indicator of the most popular vans

I love my transit although it's quite sluggish, especially when i hitch the trailer up, also the mpg is around 30 - 35 whereas Ive drove a vivaro and that went like a rocket, doing around 45 mpg

i have to say been pleased with viv overall, and for that sized van it is the cheapest to run i suspect.
just a little cramped for pw if you carry everything. was suprised the other day that the movano swb isnt bigger than the the viv lwb in load bed, just taller.
looking at dailies next.
