Title: Another Dye Gone thread
Post by: Carpet Dawg on May 09, 2012, 07:36:40 pm
Just got my order from Restormate today which included a bottle Dye Gone! The Amonia smells loooooovely!

Quick question, Has anyone tried it on turmeric based curry stains? Got a job on Friday, will be intresting to see the results.

Also, how succesful is it on fake tan and hair dye?

Looking forward to trying it on irn bru  ;D not had one in ages!

Had a very good result on a curry stain on a pure wool rug also a cherry aid stain I have used bought in products from chemical suppliers which are a lot purer but I find dye gone is better.

I've just got some too, not so keen on the smell!

Going to do some tests on wool off cuts before I use it for real, I'd like to
find out if it makes a difference if the custy has already tried to get stains out with supermarket remedies.

Ive had mixed results with false tan, I found that tring to clean firstly with a solvent to degrease then a rinse then apply dye gone and leave to dwell it has a 50/50 chance.

Use spot lifter first to degrease. It's surfactants will also accelerate the results achieved by the dye gone.

Reckon the ammonia does enough of that but would be interesting to try that.

Sorry accelerate is the wrong choice of words as of course the ammonia does that.

What I meant was the surfactants allow it to penetrate the fibre better improving results.

i must admit ive had mixed results with it. The first bottle i had seemed quite powerful and had the strong smell, the second bottle hardly smells and hasnt removed any stains.
