Hi
Hour's canvassing yesterday got me 3 new cleans for today.
My first jobs WFP - I have been practicing on my own house - Cleanest windows in town!!!! ;D ;D
One of the houses is pretty bad.
I was thinking I might be quicker getting the ladders out for the windows I can reach and giving them a really good manual clean before using the pole or is this a daft idea? ???
Also as my tank is full of tap water (double DI) is it worth bypassing the resin vessels which I can do easily and giving them a good scrub with tap water first to save resin - or will the pure water eat the dirt quicker?
Thanks
Granny

Don't overcomplicate it.
Wfp the lot, just take your time and give a thorough rinse. If the custy sees you tradding some windows after being sold the benefits of wfp they will be confused as hell.
You have invested in the right equipment, now use it and trust it.
Good luck.

Cheers Deegee!
Was thinking about the mixed message it would send getting the ladders and squeegee out.
It's the mindset I have to get over - letting go of the trad way :-\

clean em all wfp.take at least twice as long on em.scrub and rinse the frames really well then just concentrate on the glass.you might want to blade the ground floor windows after wfp(i do if i think they will spot on first cleans).then maintenance cleans will be a lot quicker and easier.

Well I agree with the others but come to think of it.
Cos of the way your water is you will safe money
The tap water idea ain't so bad I do this on bad corny roofs then I rinse off with pure water from my van
So if you wana save resin you could do all the PVC frames everything then just rice off with pure water should be fine.
I wouldn't use the ladders cos they will want that each time

You say you sometimes blade the bottom windows if you think they may spot? how can you tell they goin to spot? and do you blade the top windows too? Also on your first clean with wfp do you warn customers about the possibilty of spotting and how many cleans does it take before you are comfortable that it will not spot?
Sorry for all these questions

if they are all easy ladder access id pay extra attention to the sills and the crevice between frame and sill.
this will pay off bigtime on future maintenance cleans.
on a first clean i find by not doing this it takes longer
-
ive just started using backpack today, wish i had cleaned upvc previously upstairs, the dirt sometimes drips from tops onto lower roof ,ledges etc dropping onto bottom bay windows. marking windows. i will now do this to the rest of my rounds, prior to wfp cleaning.
-
Like others have said trust the equipment u have invested in! For first cleans I always clean all the frames first and rinse like mad then go back round doing the glass also rinsing like mad!! All the hard work on first cleans pays off on the second visit! I always advise abt spotting too on first cleans
-
do the lot wfp. first cleans take more than twice as long to clean (unless they are clean already) soak up the frames, and clean everything twice, pay a lot more attention to the top frame and the top of the glass where it meets the frame, and the sills.
-
i have not long gone from trad to wfp and it is a mind set thing and doubt in the back of your mind that makes you want to trad this and that, what i did was take my ladders off the van so i had no choice , rinse rinse and rinse its pays off
;D

Hi All
They came up lovely but I used a lot of water.
They were really what I was dreading to start with - Victorian sash windows hope no water got inside but I did explain any problems and I would call back.
Cleaning the underside of the top frame was the hardest part.
The last one I did I got a shock when I saw water running down the INSIDE of the patio door!
I called back when she was in and cleaned the inside of the patio doors for her she was O.K. about it no damage to carpets and delighted with the fact that all the frames and doors were done.
Every 4 weeks and she is going to tell her mum!!!!
I have found that WFP will find weaknesses in the property that rainfall doesn't though, just have to make a note of it for next time.

I first panicked when I saw water running down the inside of a window, just learn to adjust flow next time ,wont damage carpets only a little water.

Glad they came up clean - in time you'll have total confidence in what WFP can & can't do
As it was really bad I hope you charged a premium rate to bring them up to standard?
On really bad first cleans I generally wet the window and frame, then spray with TFR from a pump srayer. I do three or 4 windows then go back and clean the first WFP.
If the customer is paying more for the first cleans - they like to see the extra work.

have i read this right your putting tap water in your tank then using two di vessel to reduce to 00ppm?
if so christ how low is your tap water if we did that here i would be putting resin in every day my ppm is 460 odd ppm
why arnt you filtering

Hi DMC
TDS between 85 and 95 out of the tap.
Got the idea off here - Winproclean and Dazmond use that method I believe.
I will always need DI anyway, so I don't see a second vessel as a waste of money rather a good investment.
If I have to go RO then I will have to but I'm on a meter, plus I'm a bit of a tree hugger and can't bear to see all that waste water going down the drain if i can avoid it!
It will cost in resin but the advantage I can see is
I can dump the contents of the tank when I want.
Fill up on the fly.
Drain the tank and pump overnight in winter and fill up in the morning.
Bypass the DI vessels and clean with tap water if there is no outside hose.

how much resin are you going through?
-
if your only 85 ish that would be a better bet then RO i would think about going to a fish shop and get what minarels in the water tested (this is free) because it might help to put a 10" or 20" salt filter before you pump to the tank this will reduce the ppm more and save more money on resin

Hi DMC
Had to think twice - here in Yorkshire a fish shop is where you get fish to eat!!!! ;D
I presume you mean a shop that sells fish for aquariums?
