The  Pump on my 600 psi Alltec stopped working yesterday. Hopefully it's a quick and easy repair.......

Can anyone recommend a good supplier for Pumptec parts? I have looked around the net and can't see too many.

My machine's in for repair but going forward it would be good to keep a few essentials to hand to save time in future.

I am a bit disappointed in the pump as it has hardly had a tough life. The only thing that could have caused this is using an acid rinse so I am thinking of changing my methods going forward.

Has any one else had similar pumptec issues?

If you ring most of the suppliers you'll find they all
stock parts just don't advertise it.
Accessory planet are the cheapest and pretty good
for parts.
How long you had the pump?

3 years, but had hardly any use. Around 140 hours on the meter I think.

Is it the motor or the head thats gone?

Still making a noise so I assume the motor is OK but I'm far from a Pumptec expert.

It might only be the little unit which starts the pump, is it called a commutator or something like that. I have probably not spelt the word right but any supplier will know what it is.

That's low hours it should do 500+. I have a similar pump in my airflex and I changed the head but it had done 550 hrs and was still working well. I also use acidic rinse but do flush the pump with cold water at the end of each day. You wont really know what the problem is until it's stripped, but it would be worth having a spare head ready to go, you may be able to recondition the one you have and keep as a back up.

Thanks everyone.

Fingers crossed it's all sorted tomorrow but will definitely be getting a few spares for future.

I have to admit that I don't tend to flush the pump through after use, going forward I will be doing this, at the very least it can do no harm.

I'm sure you know how to do this but for those that don't.

Easiest way to flush an airflex. Take the feed pipe from the solution tank and drop in a clean bucket with fresh water.  Put the return pipe into your dirty bucket, cold water will be pulled through the pump and dumped into the dirty bucket rinsing pump clean rather than return it to your clean water. Not sure if you can do that on the Alltec, so for other models vent your priming hose into bucket or waste tank with fresh water in the solution tank.
