It all comes down to what you're trying to become top for.
If it's "window cleaning" then you're going to have a bad time, but if it's "window cleaning bedford" you'll have a better time.

I just did a DIY website and forgot about it. About a year later it was top of the non paid for ratings and it's still there.
I don't know how I did it, but it was easy.
However, one thing I'm not certain of is if it would appear top to someone else; Google selects stuff based on your interweb useage; so what I may get top of the rankings may not be what someone else gets.
I'll have a check on Wor Little Un's Ipod when she gets home and shows me how to use it.

Not necessarily the case.

If I'm correct, I think it also takes your location into account.
I did a course on SEO, and it was mentioned. Not sure how much persuasion it has on SEO.
I put a video up on our Facebook the other day regarding changes to SEO! You should check it out!

I'll summarize that for you Tom in a few words.
Google is looking for authentic content.

What do you mean by 'authentic content' exactly?

Instead of having:
window cleaning (place) window cleaning (place) window cleaning (place) window cleaning (place)
window cleaning (place) window cleaning (place) window cleaning (place) window cleaning (place)
window cleaning (place) window cleaning (place) window cleaning (place) window cleaning (place)
at the bottom of each page, just make sure your content and tags contain the things you want to be optimizing for.
If you do that above, then you will soon be punished by Google, what worked well in the past, will now destroy anything you do.
Have no ridiculous back links to things that aren't relevant.
Ensure your text reads correctly, and not as if a robot has written it.
-
it is not just about botton tags Tom, you can get punished for doing this also
-
Try filling the bottom of your page with all sorts of window cleaning terminologu followed by local place names, then make sure the text colour is the same as the page background colour ;)
-
think they mean dinny tell lies tosh
