Has anyone recently checked their Nationwide mini sites positioning on Google? I was talking to another window cleaner yesterday who thinks his mini-site has slipped off the first page of Google. So I checked mine and others. There seems to be a distinct lowering in the ranks.
Even copying and pasting particular lines of text directly from the main page fails to bring any results.
Covering*Basingstoke we offer commercial window cleaning services (http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=Covering Basingstoke+we+offer+commercial+window+cleaning+services&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&redir_esc=&ei=ksabT92dIIeb8gO5mcGfDw")
Hmmm . . .
Not wishing to knock Nationwide, but whats going on?

the hype has dropped off a little not many people from the forum using google to search for it now so the positions have sliped ;)
The same has happened to my site for certain search terms so im think about geting a seo company to have a look at it ;D ;D

No, searching for it on google has nothing to do with it. Please dont go down that route, it has absolutley nothing to do with a sites ranking on google. My own site is number one, I dont sit there all day clicking on it.
This is all about SEO, not some silly conspiracy theory.

Calm down I though that if no one searched for you then the site would slip from the top rank
I was wrong so I'll go and sit in the corner sorry mr computer mater :o :o

Hi Matt,
We noticed it on Wednesday. We think we have suffered from the latest algorithm update. My own mini-site for Cardiff has dropped from Position 2 to nowhere. We are hoping things will settle back down over the next week. We are looking into further SEO to fix any long term drop in rankings.
Some mini-sites have been unaffected.
I have two other seperate websites which have also dropped massively in their rankings too, its not an issue that only affects NWC.
The joys of SEO.
Cheers,
Huw

Matt,
Have you tried drinking?

Or maybe the competition is doing a better job of their SEO? ;D

Hi Matt,
It was our residential mini-site which was second for "window cleaners Cardiff"

my guess's it is a slap not the competition, google loves naturel sites NWC was always going to get placed at the top at first.
I have always said its easy to get first page on google, staying there is another kettle of fish.

commonly know as a google slap
Sandbox I believe. Slap is relevant to GoogleAds as I understand it. Nationwide are organic links.

I have, however, saying that it isn't something I'd recommend ;)

where they not using adwords I swear I saw this, maybe I was mistaken

Google is becoming more intelligent. It looks for genuine content and ranks it accordingly. If it believes you are a good source of information to your subject it will rank high. Also if you are that well ranked you may even become an authoritive site.
As Ian said its easy to get a blast up the rankings but to stay their is something else. Your site needs to grow organically and that takes time. It's no good blasting yourself up there. Tweaking and growing over a period of time is the way to stay there.

I think they were using Adwords Ian, what I meant with this thread was the organics were slipping.
