Title: Funny old custies - reaction to cleaning in the rain
Post by: AuRavelling79 on April 27, 2012, 08:38:06 pm
Funny custies reactions - here is a contrast from yesterday:

Custy 1 Mrs T every 8 weeks

Been every 8 weeks for about a year now - £12 for a modern detached - borderline on price but ok in among two others.

I turn up yesterday (showery) she looks up at the sky, doesn't mention the rain but says I don't think thay need doing today, leave it for a month please.

Me (working on neighbour's house) "Sorry, I can't be doing with turning up and being turned away!" And I stand my ground and politely say I'm too busy looking after my regular custies to call back out of schedule - and long story short I drop her.

Custy 2 Mrs R every 8 weeks

£20 extended semi - hose through house.

Did front yesterday, not home,  charged a tenner but wrote on the slip that she could either pay a tenner or if she wants I'm in the area again tomorrow (today) and I can do the backs.

She phones and says can you do the backs after 3pm please.

I turn up today in persistent rain (that I wouldn't normally choose to work in) and tap the door and she says "Oh thank goodness you've turned up! I wondered if you would what with the wet weather ... I do like my windows all doing at the same time and wouldn't want to wait another two months for the backs!"

A pleasure ma'am!

I've been a little wary of dumping during the last six months as I've been building up to cover my new employee but now I'm ahead it's back to no nonsense Malc from now on!

And yes! I got home to two messages on my answering machine from gals wanting their windows doing next week.

"2 for 1" CIU motto holds true again.  ;D

Any customer with half-a-brain must realise we need to work; we can't take two-or-three weeks off just 'cos the weather is bad.

Sometimes I'd like to IQ test customers before I add them to my round.

And Tosh - it's not always IQ - common sense - would be just as good.

....to pureh20, your "clean me" lealet.....do you print that on the back of flyers and suggest they put it in the window for a knock or clean when you're round.....? sounds like a great idea for areas where you have alot of houses.....mind if i rip it off??? :)

I agree with what you say Gold.

Just not got the energy to row anymore trying the Family Fourtunes method X X X and your out. (or two no's in a row)

Sometimes you might have had a custie for five years plus that makes tea and xmas tips feels a bit harsh dumping em because of a not today.

I might be a fraidy cat but have thrown away about £600 worth of work in the last 5 years.
Most deserved it.

But to be honest i've been guilty of over reacting.

As been said before the answer is always more customers, there trivia will bother less if there 1 in 300 rather than 1 in 200.
And if running late it' just one less to worry about :D
