Only you really know the answer to that,
How much do you want to earn ?
How long will the job take ?
Is the client working to a budget ?
And many other questions come to mind before you will come up with a price both you and the client can work with / be happy with.

Anything from 50p to £5, take your pick. All depends on your business model. You really shouldn't have to ask other people what you should charge, and it's useless anyway as there's so much variation in this industry. You should be able to work it out for yourself ???

funnily enough I covered this very subject in my most excellent blog! :)

Just work out how long it will take if takes a whole day charge what you would be happy with for working a full day

I cleaned a 20 sq metre lounge on Wednesday. I charged £60. The previous carpet cleaner was a Service Master operator. He charged £180 and that was 5 years ago.
Like Jim says, there is wide variation in this industry. I did think that £9 per square metre was greedily excessive though!

Was pushing it a bit :). But respect for getting it.

If you want the job start at the lower price ranges . I presume there is a large area to do
So quote as low as you would realistically be happy with . Unless you genuinely want £400 a day forget all that stuff.
Once you get a feel for the market put your prices up and then start working towards higher earnings.

Then again you could fight fire with fire, I did a school a few weeks ago and I said I charged £4 a metre, originally I got the phone call asking how much I charged it was quite a well educated voice sounding me out but I didn't know if it were for domestic or commercial and as I was driving at the time I just blurted it out, when I went to quote the facilities manager came to greet me with a floor plan of areas to be cleaned 208 sq metres, they told me the price.

Realistic pricing averages out about £2.50 a Sq Metre

I quote £2 sq yard and £2.20 per meter and seem to work out about right for me. Good luck

But don't forget to make allowances for extra dirty bits and rooms so full of furniture that you can't move.
This is where it pays to quote on site.

Schools - blue tack, chewing gum, staples, glitter, skidmarks (rubber) ....
Have a really good look, you might be cursing yourself if you go in cheap.
