Title: Simply business - are they trustworthy
Post by: bobby p on April 24, 2012, 08:06:55 pm
a year ago i got my public liability and employee liability thru Simply Business , with Zurich
as its soon renewal time i asked Simply how much if i add a couple extra employees, not much but then the Simply guy tells me hes just been told that Zurich wont now insure ladders over 4 metre . He then gives me a new price with a fresh insurer a few £100 quid more

im thinking, why should Zurich suddenly change the height limit to exclude me ,if they did change their why wasnt i told of the changes

im  now doubting Simplys word , Zurich renewal price was what i was going to stay with

i guess they are brokers too?    i had a quick look on Zurichs site and it seems they only do their biz insurance thru brokers

im going to try to find out from Zurich if Simply business are trying to get me to change insurers to get a higher fee from me.   my gut feeling is that Zurich wont have changed their ladder rules at this time ,it sounds too convenient

I had PL with simply business when I was landscaping - mainly because they were the cheapest.

Last year I took out PL with Gleaming - because they cover damage to property being worked on - I pay around £15 per month, which is affordable and just had my renewal through - with no increase!!

The DD is in the name of Hiscox - so they must be brokers

I had a bad experience with 'Simply' and wouldn't use them again. Now with Gleaming and no problems.

update-   it turns out The simply business (broker) guy was pulling a fast 1 , trying to get me to change insurers by giving me flannel and make extra money for him

if any of you lads get told at renewal time that a new condition has come into play on your policy means that you must change insurers to a more expensive one , look into it yourself and get a hold of the underwriter (not the broker ), might save yourself a packet !

if they work full time for you then they are employed so you need PL and EL insurance, also if you have subbies they need to be covered on your insurance anyway

*Danny that was not aimed at you, I hit quote itstead of reply to the post by mistake
