Working well - very well at the moment!

I looked into this a few years back, the main problem is my house has a downpipe on each corner and linking these up to a single container would be difficult.

Also alot of my roof has moss growing on it and I don't know if it would affect the ph or quality of the water

I found a website a while back with a few diverters and filters - www.rainwaterharvesting.co.uk - worth a look, although some of the stuff is quite expensive.

So we have the first IBC cut into the gutter:

Gutters are then joined together:

Three IBCs joined together:

Loading via five foot drop usually through DI unit but tds is only 21 before:

Not done this but i'd imagine you just run rain water through resin canister.

I have ro set-up.

But thought, if i did harvesting would just open up tap on rain butt let flow through seperate micro sediment filter and resin cartridge and into my ibc tank i think rain water is about 40 ppm.

Nice pics Mike of your setup, what percentage of your water do you think comes from rain water? 20% (sorry is that a how long's a bit of string question)

I did look pretty horrendous today I must admit.
I've just emptied out my old truck to sell on ebay + the contents of the loft and two sets of wheels.
It will be tidy in the morning.
As for the barrels: They have served as our ramps for the past 40 years and have done very well for oil changes and other related issues.

Does anyone do this? Harvest rainwater into a tank, then run through a normal ro set up and send the waste water back into the rainwater tank.

yes you can do this and have minimal waste , but you will need to change your filters more often
