Title: Sunday flies in my van?
Post by: colin purewater on April 22, 2012, 08:05:54 pm
As the title says I seem to have tiny little flies in my cab
On a Sunday when I go to fill up.

And before anyone says no it no dirty of rotten food etc.
But the last 3 Sunday they have been buzzing about. I normally
finish Friday dinner time and don't open my van till now
And they have been there for the last 3 weeks.

My thoughts are I've flooded my van a while ago but I got all
The water out by nocking up the plugs in the foot well, this was
months ago and they've just appeared really, no leak at all for
About 6 months?? ( I was thinking stagnent water)
Any thought people?

Many thanks

Colin

Not really, I open my van up on a Sunday to fill tanks and get me books, sort cloths out ect.  But they aren't really there though the week may be 1 or 2
But when me van has been left for a few day I open the can door and stand back!

Little midgys I'd call them not really flies

could be coffin flies.    catch one in the morning then get a foto ,upload it on here ,so the forensics dept.  can analyse in depth the problem  ;)

You could try leaving your window open, a tiny bit, when you finish on Friday.
Or open up the van Sunday morning, a few hours before filling up.

Have any of you guys ever seen house flies stuck to a window and covered in a white stuff?  I used to think it was customers spraying the fly with fly killer; but it's not.

Seen it?

I know what it is! ;D

If you have water in either a tank or bucket, check it for fly larvae.
I had this last summer in my 400 litre tank. Left if for a few warm days and the tank contents looked like a natural history experiment.

Colin, Sounds to me as if your van hasn't dried out.
Beg, steal, borrow a dehumidifier and put it in the van over this next weekend.
