Title: Superlite sl1
Post by: Paul Golding on April 20, 2012, 01:14:05 pm
I'm considering selling this pole. It's the Sl46 with 51ft reach. Includes brush, bag etc. I've used it roughly ten times !

A friend of mine is interested but does anyone have an idea of a fair price.?

He will get 1st refusal then I will advertise it on here.

To get one today works out £900

Thanks

What you need to bear in mind is that the SL1 was a lot more fragile than the SL2 that superceded it.
If it's only been used ten times and is in next to perfect condition, my guess would be to charge about 40% of the price of a current SL2.  If the SL1 was as strong as the SL2 I might be suggesting 60% - but it isn't.  The chances are that the buyer will need to repair or buy replacement sections from time to time.  It may be that the SL2 sections can be mixed with the SL1 but you would need to ask someone at Gardiners about that.

hi. thanks for the reply. I have actually snapped section 2. it was my own fault, I slipped and the weight of the pole was hinged across a railing  :(

It was finding out the info that made me think that for what I actually use it for, along with the fact that I need to replace my 31ft pole as well, that I might just get one pole (extreme) to do all.

I've contacted gardiners. section 2 from the sl2 will fit. My options were to either buy the replacement section or offer the pole at £100 less.

Well, you did say you had used it roughly.

Ha ha.  Very good.  Just shows the different ways a post can be read  :)

OK, I'm having second thoughts . . read a few posts and now I'm wondering whether I'd regret selling it as I would have replaced it with the supermax 47.

I'm now thinking of replacing the broken section for £100 and buying an slx to replace my worn xcel hybrid.

It'll cost more in the long run but I think it's for the best ?
