Post by: magic moments on April 18, 2012, 06:51:13 pm
I for my first 2 months in this line of work,I text before I clean and have usauly had a reply,to say they will leave money etc,if you don't get a reply do you just continue and clean and just leave a slip?

I do - I usually explain that unless they specifically tell me not to, wether I get a reply or not, I will turn and clean - even if it involves jumping the gate :)

That's what I thought if they don't want it then tell me,it just saves hassle waiting for monies, the day I have an established round I will love this job at the moment I'm always worried about customers saying leave it ,or waiting ages for cash none of this will matter once I get more custys.

If i call or text and no reply i never jump over gates i just do fronts only ,and i half the price and add 2-3pound on top never had no complaints about it yet.if you jump over gates you might break them or worst still twist your ankle and thats you out of work for a few days

I dont text or call unless cant get through garage etc.
I dont knock either i just turn up and do them.
This way it gives them less chance to say leave it this time. ;D

Just use your common sense - I've got a nice step ladder too

save yourself aggro and put your bank details on your slip or post a cheq to you.

i used to run around after cash, once you are busy its a real  drag mate and costs you money too.

There are fewer and fewer houses where you can just turn up and clean. Security, extensions etc. Plus increasingly, nosey neighbours.

I agree

I'd say 50% of my round I have to ring/text the night before, i very rarely get a "not today" most appreciate the call :)

Don't have any of my customers contact details or even names. My round was alreAdy established if they ain't in do next doors and come back later. My work is compact as you can get it got bowt 4 5 villages doing bwt 80% of the houses so they all let each other know etc.

So if you were taken ill, long term (hope you're not) how would you let them know, or would you just take a chance they would wait for you..........

Very few of mine can be done without a text to leave gate open. I text those that leave payment out as well. I quite like the discipline of a planned day, but there are downsides too.
